About this ebook

The New York Times and USA Today bestselling series

They will dive, but will humanity survive?

Left for dead on the nightmarish surface of the planet, Commander Michael Everhart and his team of Hell Divers barely escape with their lives aboard a new airship called Deliverance. After learning that Xavier “X” Rodriguez may still be alive, they mount a rescue mission for the long-lost hero.

In the skies, the Hive is falling apart, but Captain Jordan is more determined than ever to keep humanity in their outdated lifeboat. He will do whatever it takes to keep the ship in the air—even murder. But when he learns the Hell Divers he exiled have found Deliverance, he changes course for a new mission—find the divers, kill them, and make their new ship his own.

In the third installment of the Hell Divers series, Michael and his fellow divers fight across the mutated landscape in search of X. But what they find will change everything.

Deliverance(Hell Divers #3)by Nicholas Sansbury SmithThe crew finally meet X! He is the one who finds them! Another group is also sent down to try to steal the ship they are working on. More action and suspense especially with the strange other survivors that live on an island. X has met them once and has to save a couple of crew members from them. These survivors are monsters themselves!

I have no idea how a story set in such a restrictive space/'reality" can still feel fresh in book 3. Who would have thought there was story left to be milked from the ~450 people on board an airship post-nuclear apocalypse?I liked this one more than book 2, and this might have been because the bad guy was bad in that way that tweaks my righteous anger. LOL. It has a satisfying ending, though it did seem a bit rushed. And the mutated "monster" scenes are a bit much after the 6th or 7th detailing of them. Overall, if you liked the other books in this series, you will like this one as well.

    4.5 stars...

I'm a huge fan of the Hell Divers series and Xavier Rodriguez. The first book was one of my top favorite books of 2016. The second book was o.k. but it didn't move me like book one. This last book however was really good - almost as good as the first!

And actually I probably would have enjoyed it even more if I didn't listen to the audiobook. I know, I know, I'm in the minority but I'm sorry, I just don't like R. C. Bray's narration. I never have but I thought I'd try him out one more time but his performance lessened my overall enjoyment of the book instead of enhancing it.

As for the story itself though, I was glad to see Jordan finally got what he deserved and I liked how X's story played out.

Well we've heard all about X's dives so humanity survives, now I'm excited to see that he'll be back and we'll get to hear about him surviving the seas...

X is my hero! Well, perhaps Miles (his bioengineered dog) is my first hero and X is a close second. I have totally binged read this series. I already have Book 4 on pre-order too. The pace is swift, the setting gripping, and the characters engaging. This series has been one of my favorite stories I’ve listened to this year and one of my favorite post-apocalyptic stories of all time. Book 1 was great and Smith has managed to carry that awesomeness throughout the series.Team Raptor, lead by Hell Diver Michael Everhart, spends some quality time on Earth rather than up in The Hive airship. Captain Jordan has rocked off his hinges and Team Raptor was in danger of being exterminated. Now Michael knows that X survived the ending of Book 1, even left a recorded radio message that Jordan was aware of, and now Michael needs to find out if X is still alive. Plus, things in the air aren’t going well. The inhabitants of The Hive will need an earthly home sooner rather than later.Through X, we get to learn more about the remnants of humans and their tech. One of the things I have really enjoyed about this series is that the apocalypse happened further down the timeline so the tech is more advanced than what we have now, but considered remnants by X and the other airship humans. There’s bioengineered animals, and cryogenics, and some AI. This really gives it a near-future scifi feeling as well as being post-apocalyptic.Katrina has done her best to smooth things out with Captain Jordan but he’s gone too far on too many things. She can no longer keep him stable and reasonable. He’s dead set on keeping The Hive in the air no matter the costs; he’s willing to ignore any facts to the contrary. Katrina has to make some hard decisions in this book and I admired her for that.Team Raptor (Michael, Layla, Magnolia, and Roger) come across more dangers than just the Sirens and radiation. As they explore the surface, they discover aggressive plants and evidence that the humans in the sky aren’t the only ones that have survived this long. Once again, Magnolia and her smart mouth was one of my favorite characters. The action propels the story forward and before I knew it, I was done. Now I had to wait for Book 4. The sweet torture! Good thing I can go back and re-read the series before Book 4 comes out. 5/5 stars. The Narration: R. C. Bray is excellent to listen to in this series. He’s aged and rasped up X’s voice so it’s perfect. I love his smart mouth for Magnolia and his angry, frustrated voice for Captain Jordan. There’s some emotional moments in this tale and Bray captures those perfectly. 5/5 stars.

Life in the sky aboard the airship Hive has gotten increasingly worse since the story of the Hell Divers left off in the last installment. Food rations have been cut back to critically low levels, water is scarce, the occupants both below decks and on the upper decks are showing more signs of radiation cancer, brawls and mutiny schemes are increasing, and if that isn’t bad enough, the Hive’s newest leader Captain Jordan appears to have become insane. Many devious schemes and murderous plots are concocted in order to save his own hide while threatening the lives of the Hell Divers. His tyrannical dictatorship now thickens the plot as terror reigns aboard the dying airship.Centuries ago, during the end of life on earth due to nuclear wars, a bioengineering company named ITC designed enormous airships equipped with supplies to last hundreds of years. These airships were to hold the remaining people of the human race and keep them alive until the earth below was once again safe to inhabit. In the meantime, brave men and women are chosen in teams to dive from the airships to the earth’s surface to scout for precious supplies the people aboard living in the sky desperately need to survive. Hell Divers dive to keep humans alive. The hope and dream is to find a radiation free section of the planet so that civilization can start anew. A fresh new beginning for humanity is desperately needed after two centuries of chaotic existence in the air aboard two rust-bucket dirigibles. As the Hell Divers launch out of the Hive, they descend through severe lightning storms praying to God they will not get zapped and will land safely into…..hell. Down on the surface where radiation levels will kill you instantly if your suit gets torn, divers do not have a cake walk. Why? Because if the radiation doesn’t get you, the Sirens will. Monsters. Huge, one-eyed, meat eating, very hungry, flying scary beasts roam the earth by the thousands, and are very attracted to the battery energy that power the diver suits. Divers become dinner, and it takes grits and wit to overcome their worst nightmares!Nicholas Sansbury-Smith is one of the most creative post-apocalypse novelists out there. His adept writing skill finished out this trilogy with finesse! Nothing is left out for the reader to experience. Within the book, and within the entire trilogy, you find adventure, romance, mystery, cool sci-fi special effects, murder, friendships and betrayals, mutiny, many twists and turns, and some very nicely planned surprises. All blended smoothly with incredibly good character development, an ingenious plot, and top-notch writing. This is action adventure at its best and this reviewer gives Hell Divers five stars!
