About this ebook

An Amazon Best Book of the Year Selection

“Impressive . . . Zanetti’s action sequences are sharp and dynamic.”
—The New York Times Book Review

Too quiet. A talented hacker who got caught, Brigid Banaghan is now forced to work with a secret Deep Ops unit. But she won’t reveal any more to these renegade Feds than she has to. Especially not to Raider Tanaka, her control freak of a bodyguard and handler. It’s enough that his body is tensed for action and his heated gaze is always on her . . .

Too sharp. Raider knows there’s more to his new assignment than he’s been told. Why send a deadly agent of his experience to guard a computer genius—even a gorgeous, unpredictable, undisciplined one? But when Brigid’s estranged father is named in an investigation into Boston’s organized crime, Raider’s mind switches onto high alert, just like his senses . . .

Too close. To clear her father’s name, Brigid needs Raider’s help. The Unit’s idea that she bring a straight-laced Fed in as her “fiancé” won’t fly, though—not unless Raider can release his inner bad boy and become the rebel Brigid can’t resist . . .

Dr. Dakota Thomas just sewed up a gun shot wound in his ER. The young Marine's only identification is his dog tags that couldn't possible be right. How could this boy have been born in 1898? Now, Dakota is on a mission to find out who this man is, why he was wondering around the desert alone, and who would want to kill him. With a world forever trying to learn nature's secrets to live longer, how far will mankind go? And at what sacrifice?Warning: combat situations and bloodOh, my friend Ms. Ann Simko! What a wonderful weave. Most times I don't read thrillers and suspense because I have an uncanny ability to solve them. Not the case here. I didn't see the twists and turns to this awesome story and that is saying something! I felt for poor Ricco and screamed at Dakota. Montana was someone I didn't like until his mannerisms were explained with realistic detail. The story was fresh and something I'd never fathomed to imagine. LOL Now, I see it in the news everyday!Looking for a thriller to get your blood flowing on these cold nights? Pick up Fallen, not only will you not be disappointed, you'll have two more books after it to finish up the tale.Congratulations, Ann Simko on Five and half Blue Roses! Absolutely, earned when you get an avid romance reader to buy the followups. :)

I was hooked on the first chapter when Private Michael Ricco ends up in the emergency room under the care of Dr. Dakota Thomas, with dog tags that read his birth date as 1898. It was non-stop action, suspense, danger, the works after that.

Dakota's brother Montana and his crew reminds me of the A-Team--covert operations under the radar. The brothers relationship is complex which adds to the story. I love when I read a book and the characters are so well rounded and believable I feel like I personally know them.

The emotions the reader feels when Private Michael Ricco reacts to situations after he escapes from a compound conducting experiments by "The General", or we read his inner thoughts, conveys well his post traumatic stress symptoms and his striving to overcome it. Then When Dakota is captured ... well no spoilers here on that.

And the thought that the fictional premise of the story of scientists holding people to prolong their life to use as guinea pigs to create the cures we know of today, is down right creepy real possible. I look forward to reading the next two in the series.

Fallen by Rebecca ZanettiDeep Ops #2Misfits...or are they? The team working together definitely has interesting backstories. This time Brigid the hacker and Raider the agent are working together to take down an Irish mob. There is s peculation that Eddie Coonan, the new top dog of the mob, has taken up human trafficking and Brigid’s skills are needed to find out where they will arrive. Raider is on a mission that leans toward revenge but he, too, is willing to do whatever it takes to save the girls...and spill the blood of those that killed one of his friends. What I liked: * Raider – definitely a cool customer but HOT, strong and deadly, too. Great book boyfriend* Brigid – smart and capable and perfect for Raider’s* Angus & Nari – dancing around one another and either soon to fall in love or perhaps not* Wolfe and Dana – another couple that may or may not end up together* The sweet coffee concoctions Wolfe brings to the team* Kat – Wolfe’s kitten carried in his pocket* Roscoe – the German Shepherd who likes booze, makeup and high heels* The team* The bad guys being taken downWhat I didn’t like: * The bad guys..all of them! This was a great book that kept me interested from beginning to end. So glad Raider and Brigid managed their HEA. Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington-Zebra for the ARC – This is my honest review. 5 Stars

Fallen by Rebecca ZanettiStarts with an excerpt and the authors other series works and table of contents and acknowledgements.Hope by reading this I won't be left in the dark as I've not read the other two Deep Ops books. Can be read as a stand alone also! They were able to get Brigid out of the prison to help them with her expertise on the computer. Others are keeping secrets from her about how they think her father, Irish mob affiliates may also be caught...Lots of tactical moves and I also was able to learn a bit about the others in the group-from previous books in the series that I have not read.Raider is under cover as her fiancee and they are to meet her father...Story line reminds me a lot of the Enemy Within on NBC, it's such a cool show...Brigid knows they can send her back to her solitary cell at any time so she works hard at what they want from her.Love this kind of book because there is so much to it: romance/sex, mystery, high crime, locations, action and adventure, technology, tactics used.Like that you hear from each of them so you can get the two sides of the circumstances.Hilarious moments also and an excerpt Broken is enclosed.Received this review copy from Kensington Books Zebra via Netgalley and this is my honest opinion.#Fallen #NetGalley

Fallen by Rebecca Zanetti Romantic suspense. 2nd book in the Deep Ops series after a novella between the two. Can be read as a standalone. Great action, writing and storytelling. One of my favorite authors. The characters habits and issues make them intriguing and personable. I especially love Roscoe and it was amusing when they used him as a colleague. Edge of your seat reading.Loved it. Excerpt:“You want to fight in bed?” Was that curiosity in her eyes?“Sure. We can roll around, wrestle, argue, and then you’ll give in.” He grinned, enjoying the challenge heating her expression. “We can include a healthy spanking, for good measure, if you’d like.” Her chin lowered. “You want me to spank you?” He laughed instantly and without thought. Even irritated and aroused, she was quick on her feet. He liked that. A lot. Smart girls had always done it for him, and she was freaking brilliant.Excerpt from Fallen by Rebecca Zanetti I received a copy of this from NetGalley. I also purchased a copy to share.
