Take Back Control Of Your Money and Build a Better Life - Know the Financial Mistakes to Avoid in your Life and the Proper Ways to Rectify Them - Jennifer N. Smith
Introduction
More of us have problems with managing our money than we care to admit. We might earn a lot or an adequate amount every month, but all that money seems to vanish within a few days. While spending money seems effortless, managing it is hard.
It’s not very easy to manage our money; it is tougher to make sense of our costs and expenditures if we are not careful. To know how to analyze and manage your money, you don’t need to be a mathematician or an expert, simply careful.
I can talk because I have been through this, more than a few times in my life.
My family has always been careful about money. My parents were hardworking people who were always on a budget, and they were always careful about their money. While I was never at a need for anything, neither was I indulged unnecessarily. I almost always had what I wanted, but I had to want something badly to get it. We were a family who had budgets and restrictions for everything.
All that changed when I completed my Graduation and got my first job. While my salary was adequate and modest, it was the first time in my life that I was in possession of my own money. To say that I went temporarily crazy would be an understatement! I really did go mad! I bought everything I could set my eyes on: more clothes than I could wear, things I didn’t need, too much groceries every week. I was always out of money within a week of getting my salary.
The same thing happened every single month.
I ended up borrowing from my parents, my friends, my colleagues, and my roommate. Multiple times. Although they were happy to help me out the first few times, they soon began to avoid me. Besides, no matter how much I borrowed from them, I never had enough to return the money. Soon, I was several hundred dollars in debt, and everyone around me was angry.
Everything got worse and worse, and the biggest sufferer in all this was my roommate. I would not have money for rent or groceries, but I would be wearing new clothes every day! Everything fell apart the day that she told me she was leaving. Without any warning or notice, she told me she was moving out the very same day because she couldn’t afford to pay for both of us.
For the first time in my life, I felt truly alone. I was in debt, my co-workers were angry with me, my friends were avoiding me, and I was living alone in an apartment I could not pay for. I had a closet full of clothes and an overdraft on my card, and no money to pay for groceries or bills. No one else wanted to live with me because I was almost impossible with money!
That was when I knew I had to change!
This book is both about my personal journey of managing my finances, and all the lessons I have learned so far. I knew I had to write this book because I know other people have been in this state, and I want to help them get out of it.
So read on if you are in a situation like I was, or if you never want to be in a similar situation. I just hope my life experiences can teach you something, or help you in some way.
Thank you!

Common Money Mistakes We Make
––––––––
I’ve seen people make the same mistakes again and again, especially with money. Even if they are responsible people who know the consequences, some of us end up in the same situation as people like me who were never careful about their expenditures.
Money is the one thing that ties us together. We might have different goals in life, but they all require money. Whether you want to travel the world, buy your dream house, start your own business or buy a car – everything costs money. A little money or a lot of it, our lives and livelihood depends on it. We all run in the circle of earning and spending money; some simply do it better than others.
We may earn moderately, lavishly or adequately, but we all spend our money on the same things. Food, shelter, health, entertainment and travel – that’s where all our money goes. Some of us live on the basic amenities while others eat caviar and drives a Porsche, but we are all more or less dependent on money.
Most of us only have one income source, but a thousand different expenditures. From the basic to the extravagant,
