      Everyone on the planet is aware of the Covid-19 virus and its deadly impact on us and in this book, we hope to discuss why it has happened, how we can live harmoniously in mandatory lockdown and what we can do to ensure our future is much brighter and safer!

      Chapter One : Covid-19 Disaster

      This is not a book about doom and gloom and we shall not harp on about the deadly pandemic that rocked our planet in 2020, instead we hope to give you imaginative and workable ideas about how we, as a planetary species can use what has happened to create a better, brighter world for everyone!

      But first, let us examine how, why and when this deadly outbreak occurred and the unfortunate mistakes that we made and are continuing to make.

      The Corona Virus or Covid-19 was discovered in November, 2019 in China where 266 cases of the new virus were confirmed by health officials. The new SARS-like virus was emerging in the city of Wuhan in Hubei province.

      It seems that doctors who wanted to raise the alarm about the virus were reprimanded and Chinese officials kept the numerous outbreaks secret. However, by March 2020 it had spread too many countries by unknowing Chinese tourists and travellers to China.

      There have been many theories about where the actual virus originated. One prominent theory is that it came from wild bats that are eaten by the Wuhan populace and sold in open-air live animal markets. Bats are often a carrier of deadly diseases. Once eaten the highly contagious virus was then passed on to family members, friends and colleagues by touch, breathing, coughs or bodily fluids.

      The virus has characteristic club-shaped spikes that project from their surface, which in electron micrographs create an image reminiscent of the sun’s corona (crown or wreath) from which their name derives. The spikes can then attach to the host cell and multiply.

      Near Wuhan is also a biosafety level-four laboratory (with the highest biosafety level) and it has been suggested that Covid-19 may actually be a bioweapon that was manufactured in a laboratory and somehow, escaped by design or accident!

      President Trump has established a US-China diplomatic conflict by calling it ‘the China Virus’, while the Chinese diplomats have retaliated with a theory that it was purposely introduced to China by American spies!

      The real source may never be known, but as the Worldwide spread of the virus has grown to over 4.3 million infected and over 286,000 deaths and climbing (May, 2020) it has become a worldwide emergency that has caused great misery, grief and pain not seen since the Influenza pandemic of 1918 when 50 to 100 million people died!

      The symptoms of the disease are both innocuous and deadly. Many men and women experienced mild cold symptoms such as a throat tickle, sniffles or light fever, while others were affected intensely and soon had severe respiratory illnesses ending in ventilators and hospitalisation and with many elderly patients’ deaths. Others who had no symptoms spread the disease unknowingly.

      The virus was especially deadly in countries such as Spain, Italy, the USA and England where thousands of deaths occurred in a short period of time, leading to mass burials of corpses due to the danger and lack of caskets.
