Welcome!
Our compile of stories about hero animals in this issue (Page 14) reminded me of our own family’s hero dog. Back in 2006, my stepkids family’s dogs seem pretty much the same. Beth’s rottweiler, Rocky, was a big sook. ‘He was a massive dog, but such a softy,’ said Beth. ‘Whenever there was a storm or the vacuum was turned on, Rocky would try to squeeze himself under our very low coffee table.’ Not much of a watchdog then. Amber said her two are also on high alert when the vacuum starts up. ‘But I don’t like my chances if we ever had someone try and rob us!’ Liz’s feisty ball of fluff, Dexter, however, is like Roxy. He’s always on guard duty and ready to spring into action whenever Liz or her husband Frank need protection. ‘Dexy wouldn’t just save us from a burglar,’ said Liz. ‘He also ‘saves’ us daily from the postie, food delivery people and visitors, even if he knows them.’ I’d love to hear if you have a hero pet!
