About this ebook

“In the initial impact, most of the helicopter’s instruments and weight, which had been overhead, came loose and shifted to the right side of the helicopter. When the Augusta K2 hit the ground the second time, everything on that side- the transmission, the two jet engines and the main rotor head- shifted away from me and over to where Craig and Mario were seated. Everything on the right side of the helicopter was crushed from the impact and weight. Even though I was badly hurt and couldn’t move, I had missed being crushed.”

Abbie Guerrero was born in Santa Maria, California and is the oldest of four kids. She loves to write, travel, spend time with her family, and watch sports. She started writing poems in 2006 and published her first book in 2015.

    INTRODUCTION

    Chapter 1

    MARIO’S LIFE

On December 16, 2012, I asked my 15 year old brother, Andrew, and 13 year old sister, Alexis, what they remembered about my Dad. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get them to say one single memory, so this book is dedicated to them. I am proud of my siblings. I want them to remember my Dad, Mario Wyatt Guerrero, for everything he was and how proud he would be of them. They are so talented, funny and their hearts are full of love and those attributes are a part of the Guerrero family. It’s who my Dad was and his memories are. The Guerrero family is a living legacy of love. My Dad is an unforgettable man.

    Family Life

My dad, Mario Wyatt Guerrero, was born on May 5 (Cinco de Mario), 1965 to Margaret and Ignacio (Nash) Guerrero in Santa Maria, California. He worked as a firefighter since before I was born and later became a paramedic. Grandma Margaret Guerrero told me that Dad knew he wanted to be a firefighter ever since she could remember. He knew he was in a dangerous job and he accepted that. He told me, ‘If I die, I’ll die happy doing what I wanted to do.’ Grandma also said that he used to watch a program called
