BREAKER CUBCILE (6.6 KV SWITCH GEAR)

Breaker Cubicle consists of following compartment with metal partition to make them independent from other compartment: a) Bus Bar Compartment. b) Switchgear Device Compartment. c) Terminal Compartment (Cable Termination). d) Compartment for Low Voltage Relays and Equipments. 1) Enclosure: A. FRONT: a) An inter locked door to the breaker compartment. b) A door to the LV compartment provided with a standard switchyard key lock. B. RIGHT & LEFT: a) Each side a continuous steel partition or a vertically divided steel partition with cutout for the bus bars. C. AT REAR: a) Bus Bar Compartment: Closed off by a rear panel or by the pressure relief channel of the terminal compartment. b) Terminal compartment for cubicles with terminal accessible from rear, have rear panel and for the cubicles with terminal accessible from front, are either enclosed off the rear by pressure relief flaps or with a sheet, if pressure relief is provided downwards for terminal compartment.

BREAKER CUBCILE (6.6 KV SWITCH GEAR)

D) AT TOP: a) Bus bar compartment is closed by pressure relief flaps, the switching device compartment is closed by pressure relief flaps. SHUTTERS: Shutters are fitted in the switching device compartment and shutters open when the withdraw able breaker is moved out from service position to test position. Shutters can be pad locked closed when the withdrawable part is removed. BUS BARS: Bus Bar compartment contains flat cooper bars for phase L1, L2 & L3 bolted to bus bar support and cast resin insulation. WITHDRAWABLE PART: It is located in switching device compartment and it consist of vacuum circuit breaker 3AF with stored energy springs, optionally with fuses, contact arms. The withdrawable part which has rollers running in ball bearings, moves onto two rails and it is taken on breaker trolley for breaker removal from its cubicle. TERMINAL COMPARTMENT: It consists of cable connecting terminals and fasteners, three current transformers, voltage transformers (for outgoing incoming feeder), one earthing switch hand or motor operated. Surge diverter of surge limiter. LOW VOLTAGE EQUIPMENT: Protective relays, MCBs control writing and contactors/ relays for inter lock voltage/current transducers etc.

ELECTRO MECHANICAL INTER LOCKS

1. 2. 3. 4. Operates when de-energised (fail safe in the event of wire break or coil burning). Locks the chassis in the service or disconnected position (Test Position). Overrides the mechanical interlocks of the chassis. Prevents releases of mechanical interlocks with the chassis in the service or disconnected position, the switch board key, used for that purpose, can be inserted but cannot be rotated. 5. Can be manually defeated in emergency.

OPERATION
IN TEST POSITION The switching device is disconnected from the bus bars and the outgoing circuit. The compartment door may be open or closed and the auxiliary circuit plug may be inserted or not. When the auxiliary circuit plug is inserted and the chassis is locked in the test position following operation is possible. i) To open the door of the breaker compartment. ii) To operate earthing switch. iii) To test operate the breaker from local, electrically, manually, also remotely to check operation of breaker. iv) To check the function of switch position, indication electrical interlocks. When the auxiliary circuit plug is disconnected the breaker is locked in test position. a) The earthing switch can be operated but the door of the breaker compartment cannot be closed. b) The operating mechanism is of the stored energy type. Its motor automatically charges the closing spring after each switching operation. If the motor supply fails, closing spring can be charged by hand lever. With spring fully charged, it is rated for one make and on break operation.
