He has achieved success who has gained the respect of his peers and the admiration of his students; who has accomplished a task and has made the world better than he found it; who has always looked for the best in others and given the best he had; whose accomplishments will always be remembered. We, the class of '68, have a great deal of admiration for our advisor, Mr. Paul Casper. He has given us advice, encouragement and help and has made our senior year full of fun, excitement and memories. He has helped us all and, for this, we will always be grateful.

Mr. Casper, we dedicate this book to you with sincere appreciation for all you have done for us.

IT'S ACADEMIC PHS AT NBC

On November 25, 1967, Patchogue High School history was made when our school appeared on the WNBC-T.V. quiz program, It's Academic. Representing our school were seniors, Robert Friedman and Judy Schneid, and sophomore, Alan Hastings. These three students, along with alternates Simone Pelzman, Nancy Marshak, and Charles Silhan, accompanied by faculty member, Mrs. Geri Clendennen, visited WNBC's studios at Rockefeller Plaza on October 7, at which time the show was taped. Our school's team members were chosen in June of 1967, when at WNBC's request, the school faculty chose a dozen students to go into Manhattan for an audition with a representative of It's Academic. The audition, which consisted of a fast-moving, free-for-all quiz, pitted the students against each other. Bob, Judy, and Alan, receiving the three highest scores, were chosen to appear on the show while the students with the next largest scores were named alternates. The game was very exciting. Patchogue's score of 385 placed the school second, after Brooklyn Preparatory's team, which scored 460, and ahead of Pearl River High School's total of 365. All these scores would be high enough to win on most shows, and even program moderator Art James said after the game that this was one of the most exciting shows in the program's history; that these were three of the finest teams he had ever seen. Anyone who watched the show (and many did) can certainly be proud of the fine performance of Patchogue High School when it appeared on It's Academic.

67

"WONDERFUL TOWN"

After months of toil, sweat, and nerve-racking rehearsals, the eager cast of Wonderful Town certainly proved its acting ability on January 19th and 20th. Simone Pelzman and Linda Colella were outstanding in their roles as Eileen and Ruth Sherman, portraying realistically the plight of two sisters trying desperately to make it on their own in the big city. The entire cast displayed superb talent and, with the addition of costumes, lighting, sound, and sets ...

69

THE AUDITORIUM WAS TRANSFORMED INTO A FANTASY PLAYHOUSE FOR THE EVENING.
