FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE PRESS CONFERENCE ANNOUNCING MACON-BIBB AS ONE OF THE FIRST U.S. COMMUNITIES OFFICIALLY NAMED AGE-FRIENDLY BY AARP AUGUST 8, 2012
Bibb County, GA. (August 7, 2012) The Bibb County Board of Commissioners does hereby announce a joint press conference with Macon and Bibb County to join with AARP in declaring the region to be Age-Friendly. This designation that Macon-Bibb Countys engagement in the AARP Network of Age-Friendly Communities will also qualify it as a member of the World Health Organization Global Network of Age-Friendly Cities and Communities. This membership makes a variety of successful age-friendly strategies, planning tools and other resources available to MaconBibb. Speakers will include Samuel F. Hart, Sr., Chairman of Bibb County Board of Commissioners; Robert Reichert, City of Macon Mayor; Barry Reid, AARP Georgia state president; Edward Johns, AARP Office of International Affairs; and Dan Burden, executive director of the Walkable and Livable Communities Institute. The location of the press conference is at the Terminal Station, 200 Cherry St., Macon, GA on Wednesday, August 8, 2012, 10 a.m.
