Angeles City College of Education Center of Excellence for Teacher Education LESSON PLAN in AFRO-ASIAN LITERATURE (English II) *LOCAL DEMONSTRATION* By: Michael Joseph B. Nogoy BSEd-English IV

I.

Objectives: At the end of the 60 minute lesson, the students shall have: expanded their vocabulary, explanation skills and general knowledge by presenting to the class the word, quote and trivia for the day. processed the ideas presented by the video about adjectives through questioning. determined the Royal Order of Adjectives through an activity and further discussion. mastered the correct order of Adjectives through an activity and further discussion. realized the values of cooperation, valuing others opinions, open mindedness, and critical thinking through an activity.

II.

Subject Matter: English II (Royal Order of Adjectives) Reference: Teacher Guide on the 2010 Secondary Education Curriculum Materials: Laptop, LCD Projector and speaker (Video Clip); cartolina, marker, construction papers and double-sided tapes (Pocket Chart); chalkboard and chalk (Further discussions) Video: Schoolhouse Rock Unpack Your Adjectives Procedure: a. Routine Opening Prayer Word, Quote and Trivia for the Day Another classmate will use the Word for the Day in a meaningful sentence.

b. Motivation The students will be asked to describe their seatmate (classmate) in their left side. (At least seven to eight members of the class will have the chance to describe their seatmate/classmate) c. Recap The students will be asked the following questions by the teacher: o What did we do last week? Yesterday? What was it about? What Part of Speech is used in describing objects? *Until the students come up with the answer Adjectives. o What can you remember about Adjectives from your previous lessons? d. Discussion The students will watch a video clip about adjectives (Schoolhouse Rock: Unpack Your Adjectives). The students will be asked questions about the video clip such as: What was the video clip all about? What did you learn from it? The students will listen as the teacher start the discussion by capitalizing to the students answers about Adjectives. After the brief introduction about adjectives, the students will further listen as the teacher give an activity: o The students will be grouped into three groups. o The groups will be given sets of nouns (Afro-Asian objects) and adjectives that they have to stick on the board/insert in each pocket. o Afterwards, the students answers will be processed by the teacher by asking the following questions: What can you observe with the number of modifiers presented? Did you have a hard time deciding what modifier you will insert in each slot? What seems to be the difficulty in having numerous modifiers for a single noun? *Until the students come up with the answer related to Proper Sequence or Proper Order. o The lesson will be revealed to the students (Royal Order of Adjectives) after the series of questions given by the teacher and they will be given an example to base their correct answers (correct order). o In the next round of the activity, the students will be given another chance to correct their answers in haste based on the

example given. The first group who will finish the correct order of adjectives will win. e. Processing The teacher will ask the students about the things they learned from the activity and the discussion. Values such as cooperation, valuing others opinions, open mindedness, and critical thinking should arise.
