Dr Ananya Jahanara Kabir is Senior Lecturer at The School of English, University of Leeds. She has been Prize Research Fellow at Trinity College, Cambridge, Research Fellow at Clare College, Cambridge, and, since 2003, Research Associate at The Centre for History and Economics, King's College, Cambridge. She has published widely on medieval literature, medievalism in the British Empire, and the relationship between culture and conflict in contemporary South Asia. Her book 'Territory of Desire: Representing the Valley of Kashmir' is forthcoming from University of Minnesota Press and Permanent Black, Delhi (2008). She is also the author of 'Paradise, Death and Doomsday in Anglo-Saxon Literature' (Cambridge UP 2001) and co-editor of 'Postcolonial Approaches to the European Middle Ages: Translating Cultures' (Cambridge UP 2004). Her current research concerns visual art and the Partition of India.
