The basics
Competition features athletes with a visual impairment, cerebral palsy, amputations or other physical disabilities competing various classes of cycles. Riders can be disqualified for breaking the rules, and are closely monitored by finish judges, referees, timekeepers and scorers.

Road Cycling was introduced as a Paralympic sport in 1984 Paralympics in Stoke Mandeville and New York.
