Associated Student Government University of Arkansas ASG Senate Bill No. 1 Author: Chair of the Senate Mike Norton Sponsor: Chair of the Senate Mike Norton The ASG Senate Modernization Act of 2012 Whereas, The Chair of the Senate has been involved with the Associated Student Government Senate for four academic years; and Office hours and Senators have been in constant contention for the length of the Chairs ASG involvement; and Based off of past performance, the serving of office hours has little correlation with the quantity and quality of legislation and activity originating from Senators; and The ASG Office is always available to Senators for use in researching, writing, and meeting on issues important to the student body; then Title II Legislative Code, Section 3 Senator Officers of the ASG code shall be stricken and replaced with the following: Section 3 Senator Expectations A. Senators shall write one (1) piece of legislation per semester in the form of either a bill or a resolution and personally present said legislation to the ASG Senate. B. Failure to comply with the preceding subsections A within each semester will equal three (3) Senate absences and lead to the removal of the Senator from the Senate roll per Article II Legislative Branch, Section 4 Retention of Senate Seats, Subsection C, Part a of the ASG Constitution.
