Neuburger Comp 102-127 2 October 2012 A Film Unfinished Summary of film A Film Unfinished is a documentary that takes a look into a certain roll of film taken during World War II. The roll of film was found in a German storage area after the war had ended. The roll of film was simply labeled The Ghetto. The film mostly focuses on a Jewish Ghetto, the Warsaw Ghetto, in Germany. The film uses far stretched contrasts to give a view into the level of living differences between poor and rich Jewish persons of the Ghetto. One of the most prevalent causes of ill health and death was due to the lack of food which is easily seen on the extremely small and frail looking bodies of people throughout the film. Many of the images captured were very gruesome. For example, there is one scene focused on showing the disposal of starved persons into mass graves. With the film never being completed through the filming, editing, or publishing process the intent of the film is mostly unknown. Even with interviews of one of the cameramen the purpose of the film is never revealed. It is speculated that the film would have made up parts of a propaganda film. Perhaps the greatest lure to the film is that it being un-edited it offers a great deal of truth that other films that were documented during the time could not offer. One thing is for sure is that the film offers an eye opening experience for the viewer. It brings forth very deep emotions and thoughts while trying to make sense of all the events. And on a different note the movie brings forth the idea that no sense can be made of the violent and awful events that took place in Europe during World War II especially because this was just a fraction of the terrible things that went on during this time.
