He displays great courage when he faces challenges to complete his jour ney around the world in 80 days.while travelling, he decided to rescue Aouda aft er learning that she is a prisoner of the bandits. At that time he is willing to risk his life to rescue another human than focusing on winning the race. While in America, he also rescues his butler and the other train passangers from the outlaws. The character that i dislike is Detective Fix. From the beginning, he shows to us that he is not a good detectiv e. Based on superficial evidence he has decided to arrest Phileas as the bank ro bber. He makes the plots and makes the readers dislike him. Fix keep moving behind Fogg. He makes hasty judgements about Fogg. He tries to w in over Passpartout so he can help him to trap Fogg but the butler will not coop erat with him. So he pays someone to hit him and leave him unconcious. He also crawling under the train to enter the engine section to pull the safety chain so the train will stop and save everyone from the tragedy. He also has a sense of humour. He does thing in a comical way that makes him an interesting character. I choose the novel Around the world in 80 days. The two character who help each other to achieve a goal are Phileas Fogg and his butler, Passepartout. From the beginning of the journey, they go through together is facing lots of pr oblems and challenges. Passeaprtout is willing to follow his master around the w orld and he is willing to risk his life when he tries to stop the train because the railway is not finished. The train will crash if it is not stopped. He is cr awling under the train so he could get to the engine section to stop the train. While Phileas Fogg also willing to pay the bail for Passepartout when he is sent enced to one week in jail. In other scene, he risks his life to get his butler f rom the bandits in America. When he has to rescue Aouda, it cause him to lose his time and even his life but he does not hesitate to rescue her. The London papers that carried the news that the railway has reached Cal cutta has been wrong. Fogg suggests walking while Passpartout suggests to ride an elephant. I choose the novel Around the world in 80 days. I like the ending of the story a s the story ends happily. When i start reading the story, i wonder whether both of them will complete or win the wager. As the story near its ending, i am shocking to read that Phileas Fogg s hard work an d sacrifies almost come to nothing when he is arrested by Det. Fix upon arrival in Liverpool. It makes the story more exciting and suspense if Fogg would succee d in winning the wager. Fogg has also told himself that he has not won the wager but suddenly his butler comes rushing in and grabs him and takes him to Reform Club. Phileas is happy b ecause he wins the wager. In the end, he not only wins the wager but also win Ao uda s heart. It really touch my heart because he has found a wife who really truly l oves him. I feel satisfy and happy with the ending. This is the happiest moment in the story. ****************************************
