Annotated Bibliography Nelson (2012) Annotated Bibliography of Nelson (2012) Nelson (2012) in his review of Thomas (2011) offers

a clear-cut structural and topical description of an extensive volume of twelve chapters about new literacies and its users, together with grounded criticisms as regards the collection of papers criteria. The main topics of the scholarly debate in Thomas (2011) on the dichotomised concepts of digital natives and digital immigrants introduced by Marc Prensky (as cited in Nelson, 2012) are clearly stated in the review; a definition of these terms is found in the analysis as well as other authors statements in Thomas (2011). Nelson (2012) basically criticises the lack of plurality in the choice of articles; he states that the compendiums effect is more of debunking a conceptualisation than of actually deconstructing 1 it. Furthermore, Nelson (2012) disapproves of the absence of figures and pictures mainly when reporting case studies and the disorganisation found in the books index.

The term deconstructing makes reference to Derridas (as cited in Higgs, 2002) philosophical concept of deconstruction which is although beyond the scope of this paper to be discussed, connected to the criticism offered by Nelson (2012).
