Did Jose Rizal get married to Josephine Bracken?

I heard about different issues of our national hero Jose Rizal, But one thing came across to my mind that if Jose Rizal really married to Josephine Bracken or not. Many books say that he got married however other books say he's not. In that case which is true and which is not, who will you believe? Let us start with the definition of ecclesiastical marriage, a formal wedding in the eyes of God or a marriage held in the church with the Priests. Probably there must be documents supporting the ceremony that will prove a marriage was real. Josephine Bracken and Jose Rizal's marriage don't have any proofs that will show their marriage was proven true. In this case no marriage was ever held. According to other books, it is Josephine and Rizal announced to themselves that they were married, they just hold each other's hand and stand in front of the Church and believed that it is a wedding. However other people don't mind the documents or proof, because they do believe that Rizal never really married to someone or to Josephine Bracken, the reason is Rizal has a problem regarding his gender. Now, have you made decision regarding Rizal's marriage? A hero is a man admired for courage or noble qualities, in other words, we don't questioned the personality inside a man from being a hero. Whatever he is whoever he is, we have admired him from fighting the independence of our country.
