A famous director known for his work, in thriller movies is Quentin Tarantino, who is famous for being a controversial

director. His movies include Pulp Fiction, Inglorious Bastards, and Django, which are mostly based on crime thrillers. We also took a look at some more Horror/Thrillers since this is what our group is interested in doing. Movies such as Devil and Prom Night both give an element of a thriller as well as being horrors. I looked at the first 2 minute opening sequence of the films, and noticed that both have a sense of tension and build up in the beginning which is important element we would want to incorporate into our film. As well as this there is a clear sense of uneasy ness, due to the music being quite intense, and this is something which will be quite a important convention in starting a horror thriller. The Director for Prom Night is Nelson McCormick and he is both known for television and movie thrillers, such as prison break as well. And the Director for Devil is John Erick Dowdle, he is also known for making other movies such as Quarantine and The Poughkeepsie tapes, which are mostly thriller/horror type movies. I noticed that with both of them the main element to a thriller was the build-up of tension, the directors managed to put emphasis on the use of music; diegetic and non-diegetic sounds, in order to create a thrilling atmosphere.
