Issue 2 OCTOBER 2009

Editorial
All I can say is WOW! I am stoked with the positive feedback from both the fans and promotions/workers I have received. From the idea to release the first issue was ready in a week, after I made some final adjustments with help along the way. We are currently heading towards 30 subscribers, with the newsletter reaching as far as Tasmania. Thank you to those who have supported this idea. In this issue you will find the very first interview conducted by me with AAWs The Shark along with all of the latest news and results. October is shaping up to be a huge month on the WA scene with no less than 11 shows happening. I am looking for opinions and constructive feedback on the newsletter. If you have any ideas on how to make it better please feel free to email me at westsideprowrestling@hotmail.com. I would like to make Westside Pro Wrestling as good as possible. Tez Himself

www.epwperth.com CANNON AND SLEX RETAIN TAG TITLES Slex and Carlo Cannon remain the EPW Tag Team champions after an epic battle against Davis Storm and Jimmy Payne when Storm tapped out after being caught in a Boston Crab by Cannon. The Victorians will be back to defend the titles on November 7 at Re-Awakening 8 in a Ladder Match against yet to be named opponents.

CHAMPIONSHIP HOUR FOR MARSHALL? After defeating the Blackest Hour with Jamie Jurah at WA vs. VIC in a Handicap Match, Bobby Marshall can now look towards Re-Awakening 8 as he gets a shot at revenge and the EPW Championship against Richter in a Last Man Standing Match. The feud began at Goldrush 2 in March when after defeating Davis Storm for the EPW Championship, Marshall was attacked and unceremoniously thrown over the top rope through the commentary table by Richter. The attack by Richter put Marshall out of action until the second night of Evolution in May. ALEX THE RISING STAR KINGSTON The third Rising Cup Star winner was crowned when Alex Kingston defeated Gary Schmidt and Gavin McGavin in an Three Way Dance. McGavin was the first eliminated from the match by Schmidt. The match was originally scheduled to be a Four Way, until Adam Banks received a knee injury a few days beforehand. Past Rising Star Cup winners include Dan Moore (2007) and Sebastian Sander (2008). JACOBS TALKS AND WINS HIS WAY TO THE INVITATIONAL TOURNAMENT FINAL Tyler Jacobs had his career put on the line by Jack Burbank after he put forward a challenge to Jay Taylor that if he beat him he would get a spot in the Invitational Tournament Final at Re-Awakening 8. Burbank came out from the back and agreed to the stipulation but added if Jacobs couldnt beat Taylor within 10 minutes his EPW career would be over. Jacobs defeated Taylor in 9:43, to save his career and turn the Invitational Tournament Final into a 4Way Match with Davis Storm and Damian Slater.

SWERVE IS THE WORD! After months of buildup the final split of former EPW Tag Team Champions Dan Moore and Chase Griffin came at WA vs. VIC, during the 6 Tag Match between Team Allstar and Moore, Griffin and Jarek Matthews. Moore shook the top rope while Griffin was on the top rope causing him to fall with Moore getting the pinfall victory and leaving Griffin and Matthews stunned in the ring while he cockily strutted away to the dressing room. JIMMY PAYNE GORES HIS WAY THROUGH NWA PRO Jimmy Payne returned to South Australia for the first time since 2002, making several appearances during NWA Pros 9 day residency at the Royal Adelaide Show. Payne wrestled opponents such as Robby Heart and Carlo Cannon, in a match that saw the WA vs. Victoria rivalry cross over into South Australia. On his last night in Adelaide, Payne was defeated after receiving a shot at Jayson Cooper and the NWA Australian National Championship. SHANE HASTE RETURNS TO PWG Before he returns home to Australia, Shane Haste has one more appearance for Pro Wrestling Guerilla in a 2009 Battle of Los Angeles Qualifying 4-Way Match against Dustin Cutler, Charles Mercury and Jerome "LTP" Robinson at Against the Grain on October 2. Haste along with Marcius Pitsonopolous and Kiel Steria, return home from their So Cal tour in late October. WRESTLECLASH 2 November 28 will see the return of the big Australian supercard Wrestleclash. For the first time WA talent will appear on the card with Explosive Pro Wrestlings Davis Storm and Shane Haste making the trip over to Melbourne. Storm and Haste have been announced to wrestle each other and this will be the first time they have faced each other in singles competition.

www.shwa.net.au SHWA CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT Reckless Abandon saw the beginning of a Tournament to crown the first ever SHWA Champion. The first 2 matches saw Mike Massive defeat NC Viper via countout after the Muscle Militia who were sat at ringside during the match interfered and Muscle Militia leader Jarrad Slate go over the Brothers of Constructions Corey, in the opening match of the night, to advance to the Semi-Finals. Two more first round matches will take place at the next show Running Wild on October 17. THE MUSCLE MILITIA RUNNING RAMPANT OVER SHWA The Muscle Militia were again out in full force at Reckless Abandon. Jarrad Slate and The Wraith winning their singles matches with interference throughout. Slate also attacked Jake Paragon after his match with Sean Ravage. Jarek Matthews joined in on the beatdown of Paragon, which led to a tag team match between Slate and Matthews against Paragon and Corey. Matthews had sneak attacked Paragon the month before at Collateral Damage and Paragon took the microphone and challenged the pair to stop being cowardly and face them in a Tag Match after Corey had saved Paragon from more damage. Under the guidance of manager, Ebenizah J. Klaus, the Muscle Militia have been intent on taking over SHWA since their debut at Midyear Mayhem in June, have been intent on taking over SHWA. Jarrad Slate, Pain and the Wraith have left a path of destruction interfering in each others matches. Jarrad Slate seems to be using the Militia as his guarantee to become the first ever SHWA Champion.

Interview

Sharks Tale
An Interview with All Action Wrestlings The Shark Andrew Carter.

Andrew Carter is the Platinum Australian Champion and one of the biggest stars in WAs second longest running promotion, All Action Wrestling. In this interview we try to find out more about man and the character from the Deep Blue Sea. Hi Andrew, Welcome to Westside Pro Wrestling. Tell us a little about yourself and how you first got into following Wrestling? Well Ive always been an athlete since High School and Wrestling was something I always wanted to get into. Dad didnt really want me in the wrestling business but promised me if I won a WA State gold medal in Amateur Wrestling he would let me train, and sure enough I won that medal. Who were your heroes? There is so many. Rock was the main reason I wanted to get into wrestling but workers like Ricky Steamboat were who I wanted to be like. How and when did you first come up with the Shark character? Sharky was actually my dads nickname when he was young and when I started wrestling I wanted to strong name that would help me build my character and who I was as a person and dad suggested The Shark and I went for it. You did some training at Lance Storms Academy, can you elaborate on what the experience was like working with him? I look at it as completing my training as I was already a trained wrestler here but I wanted more experience. The stuff I did with Lance was amazing and he really polished me into the worker I am today and I cant thank him enough for it. Are there any funny stories you care to share from your time at the Academy? Ha-ha, there is always funny stories from that place. The thing that I always loved was how Slate got mad when me and Garry Schmidt used to eat steak all the time and he wanted something different, ha-ha. That and all of Lances old WCW stories.

All Action Wrestling become an affiliate of Dale Gagners American Wrestling Association in 2007. Do you believe becoming part of the AWA brand helped AAW get more attention within the Australian Pro Wrestling Community? Not at all. It did nothing in Australia as Australian fans are not that familiar with our past in Pro-Wrestling. It helped open the doors overseas for some of our workers but the Platinum Affiliation has done a lot more. Next March will see the Fourth Anniversary of All Action Wrestling. Did you ever think the company would become known enough to feature International and National talent? I did. All Action Wrestling was always built to offer fans the best of local, national and international talent and I think so far it has done that. You have wrestled throughout the United States and Canada, what was the experience like for you and what were some of your favorite matches you competed in over there? I would never trade it for the world. Learning more about the business from legends like Larry Zbyszko, Honky Tonk Man, Nick Bockwinkel and the local guys, like Erico and everyone I worked with. I had a lot of fun matches while over there but my best one was probably against Erico in Indiana for an NWA promotion. Erico, the International Wrestling Superstar came out to Australia for a few months to wrestle for All Action Wrestling and sign up affiliates for Platinum Worldwide Wrestling. Did Ericos experience and time here help AAW in a significant way? It sure had! Erico was here for 4 months and trained with the AAW boys and girls every single night. Erico has been in the business almost 10 years and the information he passed on to our crew is irreplaceable. Does AAW ever plan to hold shows away from Warnbro/Rockingham region to a more central area in the near future or are you happy to stay in that area? The Rockingham area is the home of AAW and we will primarily run shows here but you never know later on you might see AAW closer to the city. What are your plans and hopes for the future of All Action Wrestling? To continually produce high quality show using the best local and national workers and to provide a great night of Sports Entertainment to families. Thank you for taking the time to chat to Westside Pro Wrestling, Andrew
