The increasing power of technology and the urgency to incorporate it in education is of critical urgency as the proliferation of new devices and applications and their ability to capture the attention of our young people becomes increasingly evident. As educators, not only must we align our edu-
cational approaches with the realities of the changing world into which our students will graduate, but we must also be mindful that the world in which they currently operate requires a greater degree of technological literacy and proficiency than ever before. The challenge remains to find specific measurable ways to use technology to improve teaching and learning and to strengthen the competence of our students.
This is the focus of the elearning Jamaica project and the Board and Management of e-Learning Jamaica Company Limited (e-LJam) welcomes the alliance with the Education Technologists of Jamaica (EdTech Jamaica) as it seeks to provide a platform for educators to share best practices and to be the repository of the new and emerging trends in the integration of technology in the teaching/learning environment.
