Colossians 1:21-23

21a And you, who once were alienated 21b and hostile in mind, 21c [also] doing evil deeds, he has now reconciled in his body of 22a flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and 22b blameless and above reproach before him, 23a 23b 23c if indeed you continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard, which has been proclaimed in all creation under heaven,

Paul reminds the Colossians what they were like before salvation (alienated) and how they behaved, yet Christ came to reconcile them to God through his death.

The reason for reconciliation is so that they can be presented holy and blameless by Christ before God, but that is provided they 'continue in the faith' and 'not shift from the hope of the gospel'. To make a point, Paul words it in two different ways - what to do and what not to do. So here we see Christ's action and purpose outlined.
