CARACTERSTICAS
No invade tejidos. Las esporas sobreviven al hervor, mueren el autoclaves. Las formas vegetativas no soportan antibiticos, calor, ni desinfectantes habituales. Dosis letal de tetanospasmina:

mg/kg.

EPIDEMIOLOGA
Endmico en 90 pases en vas de desarrollo. Forma ms frecuente: ttanos neonatal o forma (umbilical). Mata milln de neonatos al ao, 80% en Asia y frica tropical.
PATOGENIA
Esporas germinan Se multiplican Produccin de toxina (tetanospasmina) en el potencial de accin de oxidacin-reduccin bajo de la herida.
