Ch. 7, Other Formal Elements 1. What is the difference between actual and visual texture?

-actual texture refers to the real surface quality of an artwork -visual texture is an illusion, which is like the representative of 3D space on a 2D surface 2. What do you call a repetition of formal elements in a composition? (lines, shapes, colors, etc.) -pattern 3. How important is hand/eye coordination to your definition of art? -hand/eye keeps the mind moving and focus on the subject. Eyes receive information about colors, patterns to control and guide hand to do a task 4. Do you think a person with no hands and/or no eyes can make art? If so, explain. -yes, I guess they can draw according to their imagination of an object that they think how it is. Or they could practice to make arts with their feet or whatever parts of the body 5. Max Ernst invented what rubbing technique? This process creates a wide variety of textural effects. -frottage -putting a sheet of paper over textured materials and then rubbing across the paper(using pencil or orange crayon) 6. How does Berninis David use the element of time? -at some indeterminate time before going into battle.
