Associated Student Government University of Arkansas ASG Senate Resolution No. 54 Author: Senator James Wesolowski Sponsor: Senator James Wesolowski A Resolution to Alleviate Delays and Improve Pedestrian Safety at the Harmon Avenue Parking Facility Whereas, Significant delays are frequently experienced when entering and exiting the Harmon Avenue Parking Facility, especially during times immediately following the ends of each class period; and These delays are largely caused by those paying at the gate upon exiting, often not having their credit cards ready; and The pay-on-foot stations are highly underutilized; and Many drivers are using their cellular phones while exiting, contributing to delays; and Pedestrian traffic across Harmon Avenue delays many drivers from leaving the parking facility and also poses a risk of injury during high traffic times; then The students of the University of Arkansas support and encourage the Parking and Transit Department in efforts to find ways to alleviate the delays and promote pedestrian safety; and These efforts may include educational initiatives, incentives to use pay-on-foot stations, and infrastructure improvements, among other options to be explored.
