Associated Student Government University of Arkansas ASG Senate Resolution No. 60 Author: Senator James Wesolowski Sponsors: Senator Mark Cameron, Senator Wil Cheatham, Senator Morgan Farmer, Senator Joe Kieklak, Senator Hayley Noga A Resolution in Support of an Online Syllabus Database Whereas, It is important for students to have sufficient information about course content prior to registration in order to most effectively choose their classes; and The course catalog and, consequently, ISIS do not always provide an adequate description of courses; and Departments do not always provide students with materials explaining course offerings in detail; and It is recognized that asking instructors or departments to provide syllabi far in advance of the beginning of the term is not feasible; and The University of Georgia provides a website containing past syllabi at http://syllabi.uga.edu that demonstrates a useful way for students to get additional information without an undue burden on the faculty; then The students of the University of Arkansas support the creation of a website, with a link on the ISIS homepage, referred to as a syllabus database; and The syllabus database will contain previous syllabi used for each course; and Under such a system, syllabi would be uploaded by each department for each course offered during the Spring 2013 semester and each academic term thereafter; and The syllabi contained in the syllabus database are nonbinding and would only provide an
