Art for Salford Pals

Tuesdays, 16th April to 14th May 2013

Inspired by The Lads off Regent Road: Salford Pals.


Partnership work between: The Fusilier Museum, Chapel Street Community Arts, Sacred Trinity Art Group, Art.works and Ordsall Hall. Kindly funded by the Booth Charities.

Follow the stories of Harry Gerrard, Charlie Hunter and Edward Beaumont as they join up with their pals to fight in the First World War. Be inspired by their brave stories to create your very own piece of art to be exhibited in Sacred Trinity Church.

Every workshop starts with a story from the First World War. You will then be given time to create your own piece of art. Basic resources are provided; each workshop costs just 1!

Find out about Salford before the war started and the 1914 recruitment drive.

How did we come to remember fallen Fusiliers? Be inspired by memorials in Sacred Trinity.

Tuesday 23rd April 2013, 12 noon to 2pm Salford by the Sea

Follow the Salford pals as they prepare for the front at their training camp.

Tuesday 14th May 2013, 10am to 4pm Visit to The Fusilier Museum, tour of Salford & Ordsall Hall
Discover more stories of heroism at The Fusilier Museum, explore the streets of Salford where the pals were born and bred and enjoy a gardening workshop at Ordsall Hall. A 5 refundable deposit is required to secure your place. Free lunch provided by Delicious at the Fusiliers.

Tuesday 30th April 2013, 12 noon to 2pm Trench Life

Smell the stench of a trench and find out about rats as big as cats.
