McDonald TWS 5- ECED 429 Analysis of Student Learning Individuals Below Average- Ernesto Ernesto is the lowest performing student. It is important to understand how Ernesto learns when teaching any lesson. When deciding on a goal or learning objective for a lesson it is best to keep this student in mind at all times because you do not want your student who is below average to feel like they can not engage in the lesson because it is extremely above their level. During classroom instruction Ernesto will often time gaze off and only appear to be paying attention. However, Ernesto enjoys being called upon. When completing lesson three it was obvious that Ernesto was still unsure about the basic needs for a plant. When asked to write a narrative about what plants need, he only wrote is name. Knowing that Ernesto is not a strong writer, I assisted him with his writing. He was aware of some of the needs but could not clearly organize his ideas on paper. During post-assessment, Ernesto was not sure of all the plants needs by looking at pictures. He was able to get 3 out of 5 essential needs correct. Average- Javan Javan is an average performing student. It is extremely important to understand how the average student learns in a classroom. This student can become above average with the correct guidance and support, however, it is entirely too easy for this student to become one of your lower performing students when overlooked. Javan is usually a quiet student and does not raise his hand to answer questions

Victoria McDonald TWS 5- ECED 429 unless he is almost positive he knows the answer. Completing lesson three, Javan did a decent job of writing about the needs of a plant. Although the words were written on the SMART Board, he was able to recall why some essentials were specifically needed. During post-assessment Javan was only able to rename and identify 4 of the 5 essential needs for plants. Above Average- Kyle Kyle is the highest academic performing student in the class. When considering learning objectives it is important to keep your highest performing student in mind because you want to make sure you are able to challenge that particular student and expand their learning further. Kyle is comfortable with the majority of the material we cover in class. He always wants to share or answer questions. When pre- assessed for lesson three Kyle was telling me information about plants that had not asked for and he elaborated on topics that would be covered in future learning objectives. During the lesson Kyle remained on task and wrote about the essential needs for plants while also including reasons why the essentials were needed. During post-assessment Kyle was able to recall and identify all five plant needs.
