Hope is progressing well, she is responsible and committed to teaching and student learning. She has an obvious passion for teaching and is able to relate well to secondary school learners in a manner to engage them in meaningful opportunities. Her dedication, professionalism and calm demeanor are attributes of a good teacher. Hope has a solid understanding of teaching and is off to a successful and rewarding career. She will be an asset to any teaching staff.

Comments (Please elaborate on strengths/areas for growth): Hope always demonstrates commitment to the well-being of students as demonstrated through her polite and respectful interactions that promote student self-esteem and engagement. She is a dedicated, self-directed individual who shows a genuine interest in student learning. She creates opportunities for students to become divergent critical thinkers by using more sophisticated higher level questioning during the novel study of 'The Great Gatsby'. She has established a good rapport with students and uses humor to engage them.

She attends to her professional duties by participating in Board PD sessions on Growing Success and assessment. She is cooperative and works well with her A.T. Her binder is complete with all components.

She has volunteered to be part of the Human Library at school and contributed to the school team on assessment. She is open to suggestions and implements them readily. Hope is extremely committed to personal growth.

X Comments (Please elaborate on strengths/areas for growth): Hope is very successful in lesson planning. Expectations are stated in terms of the learners with observable behavior and specific product and processes. Lesson plans include details, assessment and application task are directly linked to expectations. Hope did a great review of the novel 'The Great Gatsby' and highlighted important facts and parts of the book for the students. She plans for the learning environment and resources needed. There is a good balance between teacher led and student directed activities. She plans for and reviews with her students the task at hand which allows them to apply newly acquired skills with ease. She continues to use technologies and instructional practices that assist student learning.

Comments (Please elaborate on strengths/areas for growth): Hope used the Smartboard to review parts of the novel 'The Great Gatsby'. She gave students a pop quiz on the content of the novel. Students worked in small groups to make connections between events in the novel and the development of theme and characters. Hope had excellent command of the content and was very comfortable delivering the lesson with confidence. Effective use of technology [Smartboard] generated much student enthusiasm. At the request of the A.T., students were asked to fill out a metacognition handout regarding their progress in the course. There was a good balance between teacher led and student directed activities. Hope led a great discussion on the important points of the chapter. This was a very effective way to review the book and check on student comprehension.

She uses effective questioning techniques to prompt her students. She promotes a riskfree environment by inviting students to respond and participate freely. Hope effectively expands on student responses to enhance and further learners' understanding of key concepts. During the application part of the lesson, Hope circulates to maintain control of the group and redirects students when necessary to the task at hand.
