March 2013 Frannie is one of the most positive people I have had the privilege of working with. I enthusiastically write this letter of recommendation for Frannie Parkinson whom I have known for the past year as her cohort leader, classroom management instructor, and one of her university supervisors in the Elementary Licensure Program at the University of Utah. The program Frannie has been involved in is vigorous and the students have to be committed to teaching in order to succeed. Combined with methods instruction and reflection, the program is an intense year-long professional program that spends over a year in the elementary classroom. Frannie has worked in a fifth grade classroom at Wasatch Elementary in the Salt Lake School District. She has not only met expectations, she has become a teacher that has strongly excelled. Frannie is professional, she is calm and confident, she is an effective classroom leader, and she is an asset to have in the teaching profession. Classroom management is one of Frannie's effective teaching traits that allows her to be a professional teacher. Frannie believes that the foundation of teaching comes from having effective classroom management. Frannie follows a positive approach to classroom management. She prevents potential problems from occurring by commenting on the positive aspects of the children in her classroom and by having meaningful and engaging lessons. Frannie believes that good classroom management involves improving the self esteem of the children in her class. Frannie is a natural elementary teacher. From the very beginning of the school year, I knew I was working with a teacher candidate who has the "art" of teaching. She is always thoughtful about what she does in the classroom and she is genuinely interested in the impact her instruction has long term with her diverse students. Frannie likes to converse about educational issues and she enjoys sharing her thoughts and opinions. Frannie has conducted several student/parent/teacher conferences where the student is celebrated and goals are defined. Frannie is a good communicator and she will be an asset to your faculty. I highly recommend Frannie and am excited to have an enthusiastic teacher join our profession. I would feel very comfortable having my own children were in her classroom.
