The most surprising pro of the nuclear weapons is the fact that their are in fact "peace weapons". Because no one wants to risk a nuclear counterattack, countries are discouraged from turning to violence and grow more likely to try to negotiate disputes than engage in armed conflicts One undeniable fact about Nuclear weapons is that no nation that posesses nuclear weapons has EVER gone to war with another nation also in posession of them. Nuclear Weapons have kept the US and USSR from war. It has also kept the United States and China from direct war. There has been some abuse of power, like in Japan, but in fact the biggest wars have been avoided by the simple fact of the existence of the nuclear weapons. It discourages countries from violence as an answer because no one wants to risk a nuclear counterattack. These weapons are live proof of what might happen if we were to engage in another world war.

Much knowledge has also been gained from nuclear weapons. Their design has improved other military technologies such as rocketry, nuclear power, satellite technology, aerospace engineering. Some people have considered discharging them near threatening astroids to alter their trajectory in order to avoid and impact with Earth.

In conclusion, I encourage your negation in a resolution to dismantle United States Nuclear Weapons because they maintain peace, they keep countries from war, and they help advances in technology.
