EDUCATION Salisbury University, Salisbury, MD December 2013 Major: Communication Arts Journalism/Public Relations with a Major GPA of 4.0/4.0 Minor: English Graduating in 3 1/2 years while working at least 30 hours per week and maintaining a full academic load and a cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0. Relevant skills and course work Introduction to Journalism/Public Relations- Wrote and compiled news/feature articles as well as press releases and blog entries. Public speaking- Completed a Rhetoric and Public Presentation course. Have delivered over 20 individual and group presentations while often taking on a team-leadership role to assure success. Writing- Practiced different styles of writing by creating short/long stories, poems & journalistic pieces in creative writing classes as well as publishing articles in the school newspaper. Interviewing- Conducted journalistic, counseling and field interviews while learning the core concepts of getting, conducting and transcribing interviews. Communication Research- explored different forms of research such as surveys, rhetorical criticism, interviews and focus groups. Additional course included: Modern English Grammar, Writing for the Profession, Technical Writing & Editing and Intro to Human Communications and Mass Media

EXPERIENCE Intern: The Daily Times, Salisbury Md. Jan 2013-May 2013 Edited five different newspapers, including an insert magazine, on the CCI News Access program while interacting with the layout designers in this Gannett-owned publications Wrote head kickers, cut and formatted articles, choose pull quotes and uploading and arranging stories online Completed at least 270 hours Practicum Student: College Newspaper: The Flyer Aug 2012-Dec 2012 Worked as the copy-editor in this weekly 12-page paper Served as the last pair of eyes before the edition goes to print; review the copy after its gone to layout Wrote 1 feature/news story biweekly Resident Assistant: University Park Apartments, Salisbury MD May 2011-Present The property houses 888 residents; oversee 50 college residents. Promoted to Senior Resident Assistant after 1 year, which includes supervising 16 other Resident Assistants, planning and supervising events on property and serving as the emergency on-call aid. Received conflict mediation and mentoring training and use it daily in this position.
