Petroleum
Accounts for 40% of the primary energy used in the world today. Middle East accounts for almost 30% of the worlds oil production and about 45% of total export of oil. The United States are the second largest producer of oil, but also the largest consumer. World consumes 87.421 million barrels of oil each day.

Environmental Disasters
Exxon Valdez Oil Spill
Spilled 11 million gallons of oil into Prince William Sound. Killed thousands of animals, cost billions of dollars to clean up.

Deepwater Horizon
Spilled 205 million gallons of oil into the Gulf of Mexico. Clean up efforts still ongoing. Could end up costing BP over $20 Billion.
