Another type of hardware that is used for the Automation Server is the CM104, an embedded industrial PC.

While the main task of the Communication Module CM104 is to provide interfaces for data communication between SPPA-T3000 and external systems, the platform is also used for real-time processing for Process Optimization SPPA-P3000. The CM104 provides high-performance, deterministic Automation Functions at the processing level. The connection to the process is realized via network communication. The number of CM104 Automation Servers depends on the task assignment and can be scaled depending on the complexity of requirements.

The CM104 is the hardware platform for:

Gateway functions Process Optimization SPPA-P3000 integration

The Communication Module CM104 hosts a Runtime Container based on the Linux operating system which allows for deterministic control functions, as well for reliable communication. The CM104 devices are connected to the SPPA-T3000 via the Industrial Ethernet (Automation Highway) to communicate to other Automation Servers and to the Application Server. Connections from CM104 to external systems are made using bus connections with a variety of different communication protocols to convert the communication protocol of an external system to that of SPPA-T3000. Main features of the CM104:

Single or redundant installations Comprehensive communication possibilities Built-in system functions like monitoring and alarming

The main task of the Automation Server CM104 is to provide the hardware platform for all processing and communication functions, such as:

Deterministic control functions with the Runtime Container (RT Container) including Process Optimization SPPA-P3000 Communication to external automation and control systems to be coupled to SPPA-T3000 Application engineering with the Project Container and Engineering function

Architecture The CM104 is a powerful embedded industrial PC, that host is a Runtime Container for data processing, provides a flexible Automation Server. Hardware Architecture The CM104 communicates with other Automation Servers and the User Interfaces via the Ethernet Network. The CM104 is configured via the SPPA-T3000 Workbench. The configuration data is stored on the Application Server. Depending on the performance requirements, the basic module for CM104 is installed with various hardware components depending on the task assignment and required communication protocol. It is also loaded with different software modules.

Application hosting for Process Optimization SPPA-P3000 All basic Automation Functions and functions for SPPA-P3000 to be processed in the Runtime Container of the CM104 are available from the library. Individual logic design can be provided. The operation and monitoring, and engineering and DCS diagnostics are provided via the User Interface in the same homogenous system manner. Thus, a consistent engineering and HMI for basic automation and optimization is offered. Application hosting for gateway functions Using configuration data such as addresses, types, station numbers, etc. CM104 automatically initializes the communication connection with the 3rd party system. When this connection is established without any errors, the CM104 can then send data from SPPA-T3000 to the third-party system and forward data from the third-party system to SPPA-T3000. CM104 is based on a PC architecture that enables third-party systems to be connected via serial interfaces (RS232/RS422/RS485) and the related bus systems, such as Modbus. The selection of the CM104 type centers on:

The third-party system to be connected (Siemens, Allen Bradley, Honeywell, ABB, ....). The bus system used (Modbus, IEC 60870,....) The aggregates to be transferred (number of analog values, binary values, drives, ...).

SPPA-T3000 features SIMATIC S7 hardware that provides high performance combined with continuous availability. In accordance with the communication protocol of an external system, the following Communication Modules are available, e.g.:
CM104_T3000_PROFI_MODULE (non-redundant) CM104_T3000_Modbus ASCII or RTU (non-redundant) CM104_T3000_Modbus ASCII or RTU (redundant) CM104_T3000_CS275 (non-redundant) CM104_T3000_CS275 (redundant) CM104_T3000_Modbus TCP (non-redundant) CM104_T3000_Modbus TCP (redundant) CM104_T3000_IEC 60870-5-101 (non-redundant) CM104_T3000_IEC 60870-5-101 (redundant) CM104_T3000_IEC 60870-5-104 (non-redundant) CM104_T3000_IEC 60870-5-104 (redundant) CM104_T3000_DNP 3.0 Serial (non-redundant) CM104_T3000_DNP 3.0 Serial (redundant) CM104_T3000_DNP 3.0 TCP/IP (non-redundant) CM104_T3000_DNP 3.0 TCP/IP (redundant) CM104_T3000_DNP 3.0 UDP (non-redundant) CM104_T3000_DNP 3.0 UDP (redundant)
