Scaffoldings.

Fall of materials. Fall of personnel. Collapse of scaffolding. Improper access and egress.

All scaffolding materials should be inspected and approved. Inspection of all scaffolding structure should be carried out after each deconstruction of all scaffoldings by a qualified scaffolding inspector. Obtain scaffold construction permit prior to start the work. Ensure the area is barricaded to prevent any unauthorized personnel entry. All scaffoldings shall be erected by qualified and competent personnel under the supervision of a scaffolding supervisor. Inspection of scaffolding shall be done by a qualified scaffolding inspector. No one else is permitted to alter any scaffolding without the approval of scaffolding inspector. Scaffoldings must be fitted with toe boards to prevent the fall of materials and tools. All tools and materials shall be properly secured in the scaff platform. All personnel entering in the scaffolding must be physically fit for the job and shall not be afraid of heights. Personnel must wear full safety harnesses while working at heights. 100% tieoff shall be maintained while working at heights. Weekly Inspections should be carried out. Scaff tag should be available on all scaffoldings.

Working at Heights.

Fall from height. Unsafe working platforms and working conditions. Unsafe access / egress. Hit by the structure.

Supervisor / Operators. Any person working above 2m height shall be considered as working at height. Ensure all personnel assigned to work at height are not afraid of height and medically fit for height works. Work shall not be allowed to be carried out standing over wooden boxes; empty barrels and other make shift arrangements. In case of any practical difficulties to provide proper working platform, safety harness with fall arrestors (self inertia reels) shall be installed and used. Temporary edge protection with top hand rails at a height of 1.1mand mid rail at a height of 0.55 m and with toe board shall be installed in all around the openings in floor slabs. For small openings floor covers shall be provided with adequate strength. Stop work at height in high wind velocity. Home made ladders not to be used; Ladders with broken rug not to be used; Placement of ladder to be in proper securing position.
