Looking for A Summer Internship?

It's that time of the year again where summer internships are soon to begin, and one new web site, FindInternships.com, is helping students find the right program. An intern is an assistant or apprentice who is being taught a craft or trade. For college students and graduates, an internship is a short term job, often without pay, that allows them to practice their new skills and learn from more experienced employees. It also gives them a real life look into the day to day activities that will define their work environment for the next 30-40 years.

FindInternships.com is a 100% free online resource for students looking for summer and year-round internships. The web site posts new opportunities daily from major corporations, non-profit organizations, and local and federal government agencies. Some of their opportunities are even for students looking to go abroad. There are many, many opportunities available, and FindInternships.com filters through each one of them to ensure that they are 100% legitimate. Some are specific to students of certain majors and career paths, while others are only for students who reside in certain cities and states. For more details and/or to find an internship program, visit www.FindInternships.com

As this is the beauty issue of Geechee One, we decided to look at beauty from every angle. This month Geechee One sat down with plus size model and founder of Big Girls Rock, Anisha King. Anisha King is 25 years old and currently resides in Greenville, South Carolina. Her company Big Girls Rock, LLC aims to promote positivity, showcase beauty and acknowledge a species of beautiful, dominant, plus size women. Big Girls Rock started with Anishas idea to host a party honoring Big Girls. Tired of hearing about parties for skinny girls in freakem dresses, Anisha planned and hosted the first Big Girls Rock Party in Greenville. Despite the inclement weather, the party attracted a crowd of about 150 people some of whom happened to be A&Rs from various music companies. Even more impressive however, is the fact that Anisha created a Facebook page for Big Girls Rock and gained around 2,000 friend requests within the first week and a half. Her vision didnt end with the Big Girls Rock party. She came up with the idea of a Big Girl Rock of the Year. Initially 50 women responded to the competition. From these initial interests, Anisha developed a Big Girls Rock team. Today the team in comprised of seven members who are dedicated to the Big Girls Rock mission of empowering and encouraging plus sized women. Anisha herself is involved in a lot of networking and promotion events and takes the Big Girls Rock team and name with her wherever she goes, but she wants to extend this work beyond just social events and to work toward mentoring. Currently Big Girls Rock is in the process of reaching out to local schools in Greenville to establish partnerships in which they can mentor and encourage young women who are plus sized. Im trying to get into the schools, but they were saying how they dont have problems in their schools with bullying

and stuff like that. I dont know if they dont want to admit that they have problems with bullying, but every school has problems with bullying, says Anisha. Im trying to talk to teens, especially overweight teens, if they have problems with their confidence. I want to try to help and encourage them. Its okay you know, you dont have to be a size three to be cute. As long as you carry it well and dont make yourself look good youll be okay. Big Girls Rock, though only established two years ago, has made a lot of headway as a new company. Anisha has been featured on a local TV show in Greenville promoting her company. She receives emails from women interested in Big Girls Rock daily, but stresses the fact that she wants to see women truly interested in the company and its standards, Now people just want to be a part of it because we have a name, and they see that were actually doing things and I dont want anybody to be a part of what Im doing because of the name that it has. Anisha and the Big Girls Rock team recently hosted a Pancakes for Pennies on March 16th and they attended at Stop the Violence Basketball game on March 23. Anisha explains that she wants to continue empowering young women and her main goal is to change one persons life and to make them feel the way [she] feels which is proud of who she is as a beautiful woman. Recently Big Girls Rock did a photo shoot with women of various races and sizes. They intend to take these photos and create a calendar with them. Ten percent of the proceeds from the calendar will go to the March of Dimes fund for premature babies as well. If youre interested in Big Girls Rock, you can contact Anisha King via Facebook her name is Anisha King Plus Size Model, or via www.biggirlsrock.com or call/text her at (864)438-9946.

"I would rather have a day off than off day. Its the outlook like this that has the young Rapper/Producer Tristian White working late nights on his craft, up early eating beats for breakfast and spewing out some of the hottest lyrics that the music industry has yet to hear. Being raised on the southside of Chicago, at a very young age Tristian realized that he had a overwhelming passion and understanding for music. The soothing tunes of jazz being played by his parents has truly shaped him into a extremely versatile artist, from working on projects in numerous genres from Hip-Hop, Indie Rock, R&B and House. After countless nights of writing, producing and studying the art he was able to find his niche and perfect it. Now at the age of 19, Tristian is looking forward to making a heavy impact in the music/entertainment industry. Vying for the respect of some of his hometown heroes and fans (Kanye west, Lupe

Fiasco, Twista and many others), Tristian is more than willing to prove himself as an established artist and entrepreneur. Tristian has crafted a foundation that will lead to his success as a young artist without boundaries in the music industry. With the approach of Tristian Whites latest project IN DUE TIME awaiting release, it has been just that In Due Time! Tristian has had fans hanging on to the edge of their seats wanting to hear more from the 19 year old phenom since his last EP release titled Kids With Dreams in may 2012. Now fully prepared to release his exclusively self produced LP/Mixtape, he has managed to craft a project that is hard for most artists in the Indie level of the industry to do successfully, creatively, and professionally. Tristian is not only a rising artist, he is also a rising producer.

Idris Nasir, formally known as Emcee Earl, was born in Covington, Louisiana. At the tender age of five years old he moved to Oakland, CA where three years later he would begin his love for hip hop music. From inspirations such as Kurtis Blow, "These are the Breaks", Idris began his talent of rhyming, but didn't take it seriously until he was 14. In his first year of high school, Idris watched one of Oakland's rap legends, the late M.C. Ant the Great, perform at lunch time in front of the whole school. "To see everybody feeling the lyrics and standing in awe of Ant made me want to take it a step further so I did. Little did I know that three years later I would be on the same label as him, and because of him liking my music". Idris, then known as Emcee Earl, was signed to the Raw Dog brand at the age of 17.

career," said Idris. Turning to the life of the streets, Idris began to sell drugs and commit armed robberies. "My life had turned upside down and even during these times I would ask Allah to save me from myself, and soon after he did."

Idris was arrested on April 26th 2001 and was later sentenced to 7 years and 5 months. "When I came home I had no plans on doing rap music. I didn't even do any writing while I was in prison". In December 2010 a friend of Idris' told him he should get back in it and gave him a set of studio monitors and an older version of Protools. His younger brother then sent him a newer version, and it was the beginning of one of Oaklands' veteran MCs getting back into the swing of things. With an updated pre production studio at Soon after him signing to the label, Idris became home, Idris began to perfect his craft. Soon after M.C Ants opening act. During that time, he also Idris was introduced to Amored Truck Muzicks' Vitani The Great and soon the two were etching opened for Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince, out songs and fresh tunes for said label. "Getting Three Times Dope, Steady B and a few other in the studio and doing shows with the TruckHip Hop artists from that time ream. Idris was Gang was like training for a prize fight, so I headed in the right direction for Hip Hop starstepped it up and my flow got sharper and sharpdom. His first album, Judge, Jury, Executioner, was released on his 18th birthday. A few months er." Now, concentrating on his own label "Bank Money Musik" where he is the C.E.O and fealater after a performance at the Berkeley Community Theatre, Idris was kidnapped and held for tured artist, Idris is slated to drop a mixtape, album, and mini movie in 2013. ransom. A few days after Idris escaped, Travis Article submitted by Grustlehardent. Tatum, his manager, was kidnapped and murdered. "This was the beginning of the end of my

For those just tuning in O.S.B., also known as Ismail The-o Al-muid or The O..(Short for O.S.B. Meaning Original Soul -Jah Boy), name rings bells throughout the Carolinas. Since stepping on the rap scene at the young age of fifteen, he has now advance to holding down his own Record Label, Get It In Entertainment, which he started in 2008 to also being a strong promoter. The O now speaks out on why he is THE KING OF THE MIC. HOW DOES IT FEEL WINNING THE KING OF THE MIC AGAIN? Well, winning the K.O.T.M. twice was an affirmation that I can do what I set my mind to. Last year when I won, there were only bragging rights and a shiny title that said You are The Man--basically. Now, with a digital distribution deal, and all this magazine exposure, not to mention the other additives that would enhance any artist's presence and imagery. I would say its great to be KING... Again. Me being champ isnt gonna change. Next Question. CAN YOU EXPLAIN THE FEELING YOU GET WHEN YOU ARE ON STAGE? Being on stage is like therapy to me. It's like the beat is the psychologist, my problem(s) are whatever my lyrics in the song are, the stage is the couch, the audience is my happy place. It's a high that you will always chase. Its truly unexplainable. RIGHT NOW YOUR SONG "BIRTHDAY GIRL" IS MAKING A LOT OF NOISE. CAN YOU TELL US HOW YOU CAME UP WITH THE SONG? AHHHH, Birthday Girl.. That song just came about man..Sean Dolby is a genius in his own right. He finds things that people overlook and make a hit out of it. Sean made that song from a Beatles record. What's worse is that Sean hated the beat. Now everyone loves it so its a blessing, Im making some noise and people are listening. YAY!! WHAT OTHER SONGS ARE YOU CURRENTLY PUSHING? My next official single was actually released before Birthday Girl. It's a song titled "Bad Day" ft Antfella & Daniel Powter. Daniel is the guy who wrote the smash hit Bad Day so it should strike a familiar friendly nerve. WE PLAYED THE "REVEREND IKE" SONG ON THE GEECHEE ONE RADIO SHOW AND IM ACTUALLY LOVING IT. FIRST UP WHO IS REVERED IKE? WHAT MADE YOU COME UP WITH THE CONCEPT? WHAT MADE YOU PUT YOUR FEATURES ON THE SONG? Reverend Ike.. hahaha.... Reverend Ike was the FIRST T.D. Jakes, Creflo Dollar, you get the picture Actually that is a song that could go either way. What I mean is Sean Dolby is working with dedicated artists who think bigger than their city. So that song could go on Muggas project, my project we could make it a single. But Sean already had Mugga and myself in mind when he made the beat. IS THERE ANY ONE THING ABOUT THE SC ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY THAT YOU DONT LIKE? What I do not like about our citys music scene is the territorial attitude. Like because Im not from this area/ dont live here anymore I shouldnt be here or you wont support cause I havent recorded with anyone you know. I dont like the competitive and one upmanship attitude amongst ourselves we are all headed toward the same goal which is success in South Carolina. FROM THE YEAR YOU STARTED WHAT IMPROVEMENTS HAVE YOU NOTICED ABOUT THE SC MUSIC INDUSTRY? I started pursuing music 1998. I have seen a lot. There is more unity than ever amongst the artist who really pursue music. There are more positive movements than ever. And there is a new beat maker every day. I would say drastic improvements over the last decade of Charleston Music. WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS AS AN ARTIST FOR THE NEXT 5 YEARS? Over the next five years I aim to not be working a regular 9 to 5.I plan on finding a building for our company headquarters. Going Back to School for music business and whatever else God has for me. HOW OFTEN DO YOU BE ON YOUR SOCIAL SITES A DAY? I am on social sites for at least 7 or 8 hours a day. EVERYBODY LIKES TO COMPARE YOU TO TI? HOW DOES THAT MAKE YOU FEEL? WHAT ARE YOU DOING DIFFERENT THAT CANT BE COMPARED TO TI? When people call me T.I it's a compliment. In the music industry it's frustrating. Some dont want to hear me, some say I sound like him. Some say we are identical in everything and even ask if I purposely pattern my style after him. I reply "NO, I have been looking, and rapping like this for a loooong time" So what I'm doing that cant be compared is just being me. A Charleston South Carolina Geechee Boy with a style that can't be compared to any major, independent, underground, or dead artist. I go out and Be The O. WHO DO YOU FEEL IS UP NEXT TO TAKE THE CROWN? WHY? I Feel maybe a woman would attempt to dethrown The King. Simply Because They want to be called Queen and change the face of the game.... GOOD LUCK WITH THAT. HAHA. HOW CAN THE READERS GET IN CONTACT WITH YOU? Find me on twitter @iamtheo843 Reverbnation @iamtheo www.iamtheo843.com instagram @iamtheo843

One of the hottest females making a buzz throughout the city of Charleston is Lady Slim. Don't think with her being a female rap artist that she comes off soft. No, with Lady Slim standing at "5ft 9in ", she is a lyrical beast on the mic!! With her joining the BEZZLE INC. label in 2011, Lady Slim is taking her position in the city and telling her story in her music. With her newly released album "Audrey", with over 1,500 sold copies in the streets and still counting, Lady Slim says is not stopping. With songs such as "Prodigy Child", and "Maybe", Lady Slim lyrical sound make you want to sit back and listen. When asked about being compared to other rappers, Lady Slim replied, "I'm not a RAPPER. Listen to my words. I'm a STREET PREACHER." You can pick up her album "Audrey" at Monster Music, Loco Records, and Cats Music.

Im calm. Im calm. At least thats what I keep telling myself. As I walk down this aisle in this church I can feel all eyes on me. I look up at him standing next to his pastor and I quietly smiled inside. I am about to be his wife. Ms. Courtney Tip Jamerson. As I get closer to the pulpit, I can see his baby mother and his two daughters staring at me. Its my day!!! Even though my family wrote me off for wanting to marry a black man, in my heart I know this is right. in a hurry and kisses me before he leaves for training. Moments after he walks out the door, while I was washing the dishes, his daughters ran down stairs. Good morning Courtney, says his five year old daughter Jasmine. Jasmine and his eight year old daughter Yaz walk up to the table and sit down to eat. Morning, I say. Jasmine approves by nodding her head while Yaz, as usual never barely acknowledges me at all. Tip says its going to take time for Yaz to accept me as her stepmothSo you are now man and wife. You may kiss the er. These girls were another reason my family bride, said the pastor. I kiss my husband and I couldnt accept my relationship with Tip. I can thank God at the same time. We have been still hear my mother screaming to my father in together for eight years and Im never going shame, She wants to marry a man that already anywhere. has kids. A black man with a baby mama. Tip picks me up and puts me in the passenger side of his brand new 2012 champagne purple a8 Audi. It seems like everyone waves bye to us, and we drive off in the sunset. We pull up to our brand new downtown luxury duplex. I feel like a Queen and he is my King. We make love like it is the very first time. A Month Later It is a rainy morning. I wake up to cook Tips breakfast. His usual, three scrambled egg white, (he doesnt like the yolk because it gives him gas), two turkey sausage links, grits with cheese, and some butter wheat toast. He comes downstairs with his football scrimmage uniform. I look at my man. He is FINE. 62, dark-brown skinned, muscular build, with a ceasar fade. He quickly chokes down my homemade breakfast As the girls finish they run back up to their rooms to get ready for their mother to get them. I sit back and thought of how stupid I am for allowing Tip to cheat on me so many times. He was my high school love. Throughout high school he played football and I was a flute player in the marching band, always watching from the sidelines. I admired him then and he fell in love with me. Beep Beep, my day dream is interrupted by the loud car horn blow and then the car door slam. Mommy,. The girls rush down screaming with their overnight bags Yaz opens the door. Tips baby mama Tonya, smiles at the girls and hugs them. Yaz and Jasmine get in the car babies. She looks up at me with a snarl on her face, and says rudely, Where is TIP?

He is at training all day. I politely respond. Well, you tell him that the girls need double the amount this month for school expenses., she says as she walked away. I stand there and watch her. She is full figured, short, brown skinned with short curly hair. I watched her drive off as I thought to myself Why her? After moments of thought, I stop. Why do I even care? I got my man and he loves me. Over the next couple of weeks, Tip and I seem happy. Very happy in fact that we have a daily routine. It starts with breakfast, him going to training, him coming home with gifts, him eating my dinner, and us making love. We make love every night it seems like. I am enjoying the married life. Tonight, I thought would be a usual night. I cook some lasagna. It is a little over cooked. but I know he will eat it. I see him pull up and I smile to myself and wonder what new things we will to try tonight. He walks in and kisses me and sits at the table. He looks a little puzzled, and I hope he didnt get kicked off the team. Baby, whats wrong? I ask.Courtney, I went to the doctor today, he says looking at me. He grabs my hand, and continues to say, I want you to have my son. We have been working on him for months and its not working. My heart skips a beat. Tip and I never discussed having a baby. Do I even want children? Unlike his daughters, I can deal with every now and then, but my own child. I thought the problem may have been me. So I went to the doctor. Courtney. I need you. I mean Courtney we need to go to the doctor together. I dont know what to say. I am shocked to even hear this nowtodayfrom Tip. I have a secret to tell. I think to myself is this the right moment? We can go to the doctor together Tip., I said even though I already know what the problem is. We eat in silence. I feel like he knows Im lying. We finish up and start preparing for bed. He lays on his side of the bed, not even close to touching me. Our every night routine of lovemaking is no more. I think to myself if he loves me he would understand. I get up and go in the bathroom to pump myself up to tell my husband my secret. As I look in the mirror, I come up with a thousand ways to say it. I also come up with a thousand excuses to use. He did have two kids while we were together. I did accept him. I did leave my world for him. He should still love me. I came out the bathroom. He sits up on the bed looking at me, like he was waiting for an answer. I sit down and looked at my husband. He has a serious face, and my face was wet from crying. I have to tell him now. Tip. I cant have kids. I say softly. He eyes open up in disbelief, So when were you planning on telling me this? My mouth opens but words wont escape. He stands up and then sits back down, Courtney. I'm from Moncks Corner, SC in which I currently reside with my son and fianc. I've been doing makeup for a about a year. Why do they call you the "Eyebrow Queen"? The name "Eyebrow Queen" came about because of the technique I use to shade and contour eyebrows. Everybody loves it! When did you start changing faces? "I go hard at everything I do" says 28 year old party promoter and owner of t-shirt line Cocky, Rolonda TheBeast. Rolonda currently resides in Charlotte, North Carolina where she works to promote Cocky and takes a unique style to promotions and marketing to further her business.

Rolonda founded Cocky in October of 2012 to encourage people to believe in themselves at all times--"with everything you do in your everyday life have CONFIDENCE," she says. When asked why she decided to create her own clothing line, Rolonda replied, "A lot of people use to call me Cocky, but I just wanted to spread the message, that even though a person has high self esteem and a lot of Confidence. It doesn't make them cocky. " Rolonda TheBeast explains that there are unique difficulties to her brand. As a female entrepreneur she has to work harder than men to prove herself because people don't take women as seriously as they do men. Rolonda also explains that by selling her line at an online boutique as opposed to in an in person store she faces another difficulty. Some women would rather see the clothes face to face before purchasing them. At the same time however, an online boutique is able to reach a greater number of people. Rolonda is constantly promoting Cocky daily on social networks, through launch parties, radio and magazine ads, flyers and promotional items. She starts her day by hopping on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram to promote her parties and line. She frequents cool restaurants in the area as eating is one of her favorite hobbies. Then she works late into the night developing her brand. She spends her weekends hosting parties in Florence. While the life seems glamorous, Rolonda TheBeast is always grinding. Not only does she work to create her brand, Rolonda is also partnering with Winter of Addie's Baby to begin fundraising for her Cancer Sucks Charity. involvement. "They usually contact me after they have made their film," Bobby has commented," and often want me to endorse it. I want to do this until I see the final product. Its painful to see the waste of money, resources and talent on film projects that don't convey the complete story of what happened during the days of the Black Panther Party and the sixties protest movement." Many cinematic depictions of the Black Panther Party leave out the FBI's efforts to terrorize the Panthers through its counter intelligence program. This led to Panther members being legally framed and sometimes even assassinated based on the false testimony of FBI informants. "There is an entire generation of young people who know nothing about how viciously the FBI attacked us and why. Even people of my generation don't know that J. Edgar Hoover said the Black Panthers Breakfast for Children program represents the greatest threat to America's national security," Bobby has explained. Seize The Time; The Eighth Defendant will give its audience a glimpse into the life of Bobby Seale and the social protest movements of the 1960's and 70's. A cast of actors will play the part of the people who were members and show the changes they created. The film will also highlight situations in which the Panthers prevailed. Bobby says, " For example, most people don't know that we won 95 % of our courtroom cases. " Many social programs today go back to the survival programs of the Black Panther Party. And the struggle for justice for African American and minority youth in the face of police oppression is unfortunately as relevant today as it was when Bobby and Huey first took up their rifles and law books to protest police brutality. Bobby Seale, Chairman, co-founder and national organizer of the Black Panther Party is producing a biographical motion picture which will dramatize his life and the tumultuous 1960's and 70's, the era in which the Black Panthers emerged as the prominent revolutionary civil rights movement of its time. Bobby and his partner Stephen Edwards, a filmmaker and former member of the Panthers, have written a screenplay with the title, Seize the Time, The Eighth Defendant. Seize the Time is also the title of Bobby's autobiography, which sold over one million copies since first published in 1970. A studio executive at Fox Search Light Pictures suggested that Bobby and Stephen produce this dramatized feature instead of the more traditional documentary they had originally been working on. Since the late 1970s, Bobby has spoken to hundreds of thousands of students on college campuses worldwide. Audiences have been mesmerized by his charismatic speeches as he relates his personal experiences in a historical period that helped shape today's politics. Bobby talks about the people in the Black Panther Party, their supporters and the various social programs they created; how they prevailed in a world where they were persecuted and their lives and those of their friends and families were threatened. The image of Bobby Seale chained, gagged, and bound to a chair in a Chicago courtroom is one that lives in America's national conscience. This film will tell the story of how he got there and how he survived. The story comes straight from Bobby Seale's life. It offers insight into United States history and the conflicts and contradictions that reverberate to this day. For the first time millions of people will have an opportunity to experience Bobby's stories in movie theaters across America and the world. Bobby decided to produce his own cinematic life story because of his frustration with the films that have been made about the Black Panthers without his

Hello ladies, my name is Buffie Carruth and in this issue Im giving you another great workout. For those of you who dont know me, I gained a lot of popularity as Buffie the Body and have now created a fitness website, www.bodynomics.com to share fitness tips, studies and workouts with women. I am adamant about the fact that skinny does not equate to fitness. I will never promote a skinny mentality on my site. Instead I promote healthy lifestyles. I truly believe that a woman should be well proportioned, curvaceous and wellrounded with health being top priority. Many women are interested in increasing their curves. In the last issue, I showed you how four great exercises to stimulate your glutes. This issue I want to give a few tips on how to strengthen and increase your hip muscles. First of all, the hip curve is the largest curve on a womans body and is the indicator as to whether or not a person is male or female. If youre looking to create a shapely, symmetrical body, increasing the hip curve is a key element. Let me start by saying that some women are simply born with wider pelvis bones than others. As your pelvis is a bone, there is not anything you can do to increase or decrease its width. There are however glute muscles on the side of your pelvis, the gluteus medius and the gluteus minimus, and the tensor faciae latae, which is on the front of your body, that you can exercise to increase your hip curve. Remember to begin light and increase the resistance as to challenge your body as you progress.

1. Lying Hip Abduction- Lay down on your side making sure your entire body is in a straight line from your head to toes. Keep a small gap between your lower back and the floor. Hold a small weight midway between your knee and your hip, facing upward toward the ceiling, and raise your leg. Make sure to keep this angle between 30-35 degrees. Then bring your leg back down. Do 6-12 reps and 3-5 sets on each side. 2. Lying Hip Abduction with External Leg Rotation- Lay down on your side making sure your body entire is in a straight line from your head to toes. Keep a small gap between your lower back and the floor. Hold a hand weight midway between your knee and your hip, facing toward the ceiling. In this exercise youre going to externally rotate your leg as you raise it. This means that you rotate your leg away from the midline of the body. Make sure to keep this angle between 30-35 degrees. Then bring your leg back down. This exercise targets both your TFL and your glutes. Do 6-12 reps and 3-5 sets on each side. 3. Standing Hip Abduction- While standing take a hand weight and hold it midway between your knee and your hip. While keeping your upper body straight, lift your leg to the side keeping that 30-35 degree angle. Make sure that youre careful about where you place the weight. It must create resistance. If you arent feeling your outer thigh working to lift your leg, you arent creating enough resistance.

This exercise targets your gluteus medius and gluteus minimus. Do 6-12 reps and 3-5 sets on each side. 4. Sumo Walk- This exercise requires resistance tubing. Tie the tubing around your feet to create resistance when trying to separate them. Put a slight bend in your knees and keep your upper body straight. Walk out to the side with each foot making sure to keep the tension in the tube. You WILL feel this in your hips. Start for the first four weeks with a light resistance tube, and then increase your resistance as you progress. This exercise targets the gluteus maximus, medius, minimus and the TCL. 612 reps 3-5 sets on each side. 5. Monster Walk- This exercise requires resistance tubing. Tie the tubing around your feet to create resistance when trying to separate them. Keep a slight bend in your knees. Take one foot and step forward and outward at the same time. Repeat this with the other foot. (The movement is somewhat like inline skating). Youll feel this as well. These exercises while challenging, will pay off in results. Remember to challenge yourself. Its the only way youre going to see progress. Increase your intensity every 4-6 weeks as long as you feel that youre ready. Trust me, they work. The proof is in the curve. If youre looking for more fitness information, visit www.bodynomics.com, follow us on Twitter @Bodynomics or subscribe to our Youtube Channel or like us on Facebook. *for visuals of these exercises please visit www.bodynomics.com/team-hourglass-getwider-curvier-hips

In the coming of age for the new era of music, indie music artists have grown in the south by 77% as of 2008. Many southern artists are using Atlanta as a way to get their out to a bigger crowd, but is it more harm than help? I believe the ATL is just like any other place-- they embrace any artist who spends money. Most rappers try to mimic their favorite artist (who most of the time comes from ATL) in hope that their artist will bless their track because their sounds resemble one another. This is a huge misconception! Famed Music Mogul LA Reid said it best, Nobody wants to sign another SOMEBODY! So why try to sound like Future when Future already exists? Atlanta is very hip to the way music pumps money in their city. Speaking from personal experience, I have seen some of the hustle-parties promoters, DJs and artists try to pull on less established and less experienced artists.

While Atlanta is a great music hub, and there are a lot of opportunities to get your music heard by people who wouldnt normally hear it, the city is also filled with artists from Atlanta who already have ties with other people in the industry. So 8 times out of 10, moving to Atlanta and putting all of your efforts into that industry will not put you on BET or MTV unless you have a boatload of money. Dont be discouraged, its always a good idea to send your music out to people who dont normally hear it, but remain true to your own sound and dont focus your efforts on one city. Spread out and remain focused and persevering even if you dont get amazing results on your first try. Youll never appreciate success if you dont fail first. This industry is about putting forth the work necessary to succeed, and that doesnt come from over saturating yourself in one city where artists are a dime a dozen. Written by Jules City

Its 6p.m. Vans are lined up and unloading the cameras for VH1s hit TV Reality series, Love and Hip Hop Atlanta. Luckily, there is a place to park the car, which is filled to the brim with clothes, in all the pandemonium. Just based from all the cars in the parking lot, it was obvious that this was going to be one of those nights. Models are running frantic. Some dont have their make-up done, while others are unsure of what they are going to wear for tonights show. There is an aura in the air that something big is going down tonight, and the excitement in filling the air. Instantly, I fall into my groove of things. Accessories, shoes, and bags are being thrown in every which direction. Models are coming at me for everything from having their clothes pinned to their thin frames to how they should have hair look for the first scene of the show. Designers are asking me a million and one questions. I see my friend Industry Hairstylist Marisa Shockly-Wilson working her fingers off. (LoL), (Risa styled Momma Dee's hair the day before and she killed it). Coordinators are asking for call times and line ups. Then, all of a sudden, the cameras come on when the cast of Love and Hip Hop arrive, and its show time. Its time to Stomp The Runway! Momma Dee, who is the coolest reality star that Ive met in this styling game, shows up in a skin tight black cocktail dress with animal printed shoes and bag. Shay, who we all were there to witness be crowned the new princess of the south, appears, in a skin tight red number that put you in the mind of Jessica rabbit. With her hair swept sideways into a blond bombshell bun, she looked simply stunning. Lil Scrappy, who is far from little, also shows up with a coolness that makes everybodys head turn. It was a night of royalty, and yes, Momma Dee is serious when she says that she is the Queen, and her children are the prince and princesses. Backstage, the madness never stops. It almost looks like a circus. But from the sounds being heard out front of cheers and applause, you knew that the audience was very entertained. The show went off with a hitch, and the atmosphere of the venue was fabulous. The show is finally over, and the tension has finally died down. Pictures are being taken with the models and the cast. The night was a huge success, and the charity fashion show where Shay Johnson was crowned as Lil Scrappys princess, all in the name of fundraising for the Higher Family Achievement Association and Mrs. Georgia US Nancy Klausner, it was a night to never be forgotten. After two months of becoming acquainted with my natural hair, I realize that several notions about natural hair and its care just arent true. Before I went completely natural, I had ideas of ways my hair and beauty routine would be different, even easier certain ways. But my hair proved many of those ideas to be totally wrong. I thought I would: 1. Wake up feeling free and liberated Although having natural hair is liberating and has its perks, sometimes I miss my longer, straight hair that falls to my shoulders and blows in the wind. 2. Just wash and go Whoever came up with this saying forgot to name a few steps in between. I must wash, condition, apply leave-in conditioner, oil, and styling product, then go. And I have to wait 4-6 hours for my hair to air dry completely. 3. Look like a boy Im relieved this thought proved false for me! Although I think that women with pronounced bone structures are gorgeous, Im glad that my face is soft and feminine enough to balance a short, somewhat bold cut. 4. Wear big earrings to feminize my look Since I wear glasses (cat-eye frames), wearing big earrings looks too over-the-top. My face cant handle two statement pieces. So Im stuck wearing studs and small hoops, unless I want to draw tons of attention. 5. Walk in light rain without an umbrella Sprinkles and sparse showers seem harmless enough, but my hair is moisture sensitive. So if my hair is already dry, even a few droplets turn my cute curls and coils into fuzzy frizzies.
