October 2012
Adelaide suffered its driest September in four years with below average rainfalls and warmer temperatures, said the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM). Some locations received less than half of the months average rainfall, including the Adelaide Plains and the Adelaide Hills. Tea Tree Gully recorded its driest September on record with just 4.9mm of rain, 63.1mm under the areas average. Adelaides average maximum temperature was 19.9C, cooler than 2011 but still 1C above the long term average September
September 26 and Thursday September 27, both reaching a maximum temperature of 28.2 degrees. The most rain fell on Friday September 7 at 7.4mm, due to a cold front which brought strong winds, isolated thunderstorms and showers. The chance of drier and warmer conditions continuing through to autumn exceeds 60 per cent due to warmer temperatures of the Indian Ocean and tropical Pacific Ocean.
