Barreirinhas Basin
The performance of the Environmental Education Project for Workers - PEAT is a mitigation measure required by the Federal Environmental Licensing, conducted by IBAMA.
Situated between parallels 00 05' 00" S and 02 05' 00" S, it has an area of about 50,000 km, covering part of the coast of Maranho and adjacent shelf.
On the northwestern boundary it is located Ilha de Santana shelf, on the east Alto de Tutia and at south, Sobradinho Shelf.

Seabirds are one of the most affected animals in case of oil spill at sea.
Do not throw trash at sea! Many turtles die from suffocation, as they confuse trash with food.
It is important to emphasize that the State of Maranho has almost half of the wetlands of Brazil and the largest continuous area of this ecosystem in the world.
