Achievements of Operations Department during Y2009

1. Successfully extinguishing the Gas control room fire on July 10,2009. 2. Successfully isolating the gas line when fire initiated on the gas comp roof due to striking of thunder lightning on 21st September during inclement weather. 3. Faults finding of steam generator where steam coil was partially clogged and went out of operation for days together and chemical washing carried out to clear the blockage. 4. FW gen. #1 connected to #7 engine which helps running FW gen and one EGB engine during dispatch requirement reduced to only one engine. 5. Manual operation arrangement on Jowa unit developed and oily water treatment carried out when the PLC of this unit was out of order for months together. 6. Arkal filter made functional by providing alternative solutions to run the solenoid valves, hence to run the ejector pump for FW generator. 7. Detecting the faults in the HFO supply line filters when there was no differential pressure showing in the filters. The problem was creating too much fluctuation in the fuel pressure and caused repeated engine trips. 8. Booster gas compressor was able to run at relatively low supply pressure than the recommended trip level by injecting high signal pressure to the compressor PLC. 9. Carried out 7 nos.of OJT on seven different topics round the year. 10. Trained ther newly employed Operators successfully within short span of time to take over the full operational activities in the barge and shore machinery spaces.
