Technology is changing at quite rapid pace. Day by day we notice that new technology is on its way. One such technology that has made revolutionary change is touch screen. The touch screen offers the user smooth operation of equipment. We wish to design a product based on touch screen technology. The objective is simple understand the latest technology in full by developing a product based on this technology. The project we wish to take up is Touch screen based home automation. Through this project we would like to design a touch screen based electrical device control system. Further, we wish to design this around micro controller, RF modules and embedded C. The major topics that are covered through this project are

The system level block diagram for Touch Screen based home Automation is as shown above. The mains voltage is stepped down, rectified and a regulated 5V DC is achieved. The 5V DC is required as supply for the micro controller and other on board electronic components. The input to the transmitter is from the touch screen which is processed by the micro controller and then given to the encoder. The encoder takes data, then encodes it and the data is transmitted wirelessly through wireless modules. At the receiver end the data is received, processed by the micro controller and then enables the output to drive the relay., so that the required electrical device is turned on as per the touch screen input. By carrying this project, we expect to learn strong programming knowledge, driving the motors, basic building blocks of a system and integration of all of the above to make a system. Since this is a group project, we get experience on the team work as well.
