Trotsky and Lenin are represented by Snowball and Napoleon respectively as Snowball is the more eloquent animal yet is exiled by Napoleon as he was cunning and able to canvass support better. Stalin and the Red Army are represented by Napoleon and the dogs as Napoleon is the animal who eventually gains power and the dogs were nurtured and raised by Napoleon and hence loyal to him and him only and were used to dispense terror throughout the Animal Farm just like the Red Army in Soviet Russia.
