GENERAL DIRECTIONS: Examine the following text and answer the questions that follow. Be concise with your answers but make sure that they are substantial.

THE BOOK OF JOB

Give a probable interpretation of the Book of Job. In doing so, make sure that you identify the correct genre of the text. A little research might help you to come up with the correct interpretation. Consider the following questions but dont be limited by them. What is the book all about (content)? What is the genre of the book? What makes you say so? Cite evidences. In light of the genre, what questions should you ask? What questions should you not ask? In light of its genre, what is the book all about? In other words, what is the purpose of the book?
The book of Job reflects the unwavering faith of man in God despite the magnanimous tribulations faced by Job. In the beginning of the book, Job is illustrated as a wealthy man due to his richness in material belongings. Satan though argues that Job is faithful since he is blessed by God and sheltered by him from all the darkness and problems the world contains, thus Satan attempts to destroy the faith of Job. Job, although experience momentary doubt and anxiety, is not defeated by Satan and remains triumphant in faith. This proves God's faith in man's goodness and faith. The book is dramatic fiction, filled with symbolisms. What are the main themes and symbolisms present in the book? How can the book be interpreted in light of one's spirituality and faith in God? Is this book real? What is the historical context of the book? If the book is not real, should it still be trusted?
