It's a simple little game of cards but ver y fun and helpful.

Aim: Review and practice Past Tense of the irregular verbs

Instructions:

Choose some irregular verbs and write their three forms on three cards.
Make one set for each student.

That is, if there are 20 students in the class you will have to prepare 20 sets. Prepare one more card to be the sleeper.

Review the verbs with the students. (blackboard, hand-out or power point)

Tell the students how to play

The cards will be shuffled and dealt among the players, one of whom will be with 4 letters and will start the game.

The player will choose one of his/her cards, and will discard it for the player to his/her left/right. The game will go on with a player passing a letter to the next player.

Who receives the sleeper must stay with it for a round and must spend another card.

When a player form a set, or get three cards with the three forms of the verb in hand, must lay down them, with th e faces/words down, discreetly.

When another player realizes that must to do the same. The latest to download your cards will be the "sleeper".

The goal of the game is form a set and, also, is not be the last to lower the cards.

It is important stares at the hand of opponents! If someone lower the cards, the other players should do the same, so as not to be the "sleeper".

After say to the students how to play ask them to put their desks in a circle.

Decide with them which way the turns will be going (clockwise or counterclockwise)
