How to grow Mango seedlings

FOLLOW THE STEPS BELOW: 1. 2. 3. 4. Spacing of between 8 12 m2 Depth of hole 1 x 1 x 1 m3 Put the top soil aside when digging the hole. Mix top soil with manure and fertilizer as follows: a. 1 debe of manure per hole b. About 60g of a compound fertilizer (NPK) e.g. DAP, depending on the fertility of the soil. 5. Return the mixture to the hole filling to about 2/3 (two thirds) of the hole 6. Cut the polythene sleeve carefully so that the plant can be planted with the entire ball of the soil. 7. Place each of the seedlings at the centre of the planting hole. 8. Cover the seedling at exactly the same depth as it was in the polythene sleeve leaving it about 6 inches below the soil surface. 9. Once the trees are established ( about 3 6 months after Planting), start applying nitrogenous fertilizers e.g. CAN as follows:a. 1st year 50g CAN/tree b. 2nd year 100g CAN/ tree c. 3rd year 150g CAN/tree d. 4th year 200g CAN/tree 10.NOTE: the nitrogenous fertilizers should be applied in splits to avoid leaching out. 11.The seedlings should not be allowed to dry hence the need for frequent watering and/or mulching. 12.When using a spacing of 10m2, you expect to have a plant population of 576 plants/hectare and 256 plants/acre.
