RESPONSIVENESS to INSTRUCTION ELEMENTARY TIER I FLOWCHART

Target Essential Learning Outcomes

Use multiple sources of data to determine if differentiated core instruction is meeting the needs of 80% of your class and 80% of each subgroup within your class If less than 80% of students are proficient adjust teaching practices and instructional strategies Discuss with PLT fidelity of core instruction Use this process when analyzing each new piece of data throughout the year

Identify Learners Needs Adjust core instruction to match the needs of the learner Ensure differentiated practices are aligned with data Implementation duration of 4-6 weeks Implemented by general education teacher Provide support for small groups or individuals

Student meets grade level/benchmark standards Student achieves core expectations Determine if student continues to need differentiated instructional strategies based on formative data collected every 2 weeks

Decision Point

Student not meeting grade level/benchmark standards but making sufficient progress Level 2 in ELA or Mathematics and making progress

Continue differentiated core curriculum and collect data

Monitor students responsiveness Collect formative data and analyze data a minimum of every 2 weeks to monitor effectiveness of differentiated instruction Share data with PLT and strategize best practices Adjust instructional support Inform parents of concern /progress on interim or report card. Student not meeting grade level/benchmark standards and NOT making sufficient progress after adjusting instructional support: Level 1 or 2 in ELA or Mathematics and NOT making accelerated progress (1.5 yrs.)

Continue differentiated instruction and begin Tier II strategic interventions
