VIRTUAL FIELD TRIP PROJECT TEMPLATE


I. II. III. Grade Level: 4th Grade Topic: Environments- Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary Standards: A. LS2a. Students know that plants are the primary source of matter and energy entering most food chains. B. LS2b. Students know producer and consumers (herbivores, carnivores, omnivores and decomposers) are related in food chains and food webs and may compete with each other for resources in an ecosystem. C. LS2c. Students know decomposers; including many fungi, insects, and microorganisms, recycle matter from dead plants and animals. Objective: Students will view and research information on marine life for science and language arts. They will then create a paragraphs, pictures, and power point to create a presentation. Materials: Textbook 4th grade Science Resources, computers; for access to Monterrey Bay Aquarium Procedures: (include websites used, URLs, and how you will instruct, integrating the QAIT Model and technology) www.montereybayaquarium.org 1. Instructional Set (how the activities will be introduced): Display the website and live feed for various marine animals at the aquarium. 2. Developmental Activities: 1. Instruction: a. Daily journal writing in practice for paragraph and research b. Power point practice for back to school night 2. Guided Practice: Using laptops on students desks, the class will follow along and create a model while the teacher creates a paragraph and power point using the Promethean board 3.
