The Poor Man and the Greedy Man

One day, an angel met a greedy man who lives in a huge mansion and told him to walk on a path and promised that he will get a prize when he finished walking. The man agreed to the angel, and asked what the prize is. The angel said that the prize is something the man really need. The greedy man knows that it was money, for he bought a whole subdivision and needed more money to complete his need. So the man walked with his chin up, looking up high, without looking on the one he step on for he was arrogant as can be. He just walk and walk and walk until he fell down a cliff. But luckily he hold the edge of the cliff then the angel saved him and fly him above. Up above, he looked down and he saw that the path he is walking is full of money. Then he asked the angel if he can go back and get those. But the angel said no. The man was full of regret for he dont know that what he is walking on is the prize. He thought that the prize is always in the end, so he was wrong. Then the angel met a poor man who lives in a squatters area, whose daughter was sick. He need more money to treat his daughter, so he was very tired for he worked and worked and worked to get the money he need or else his daughter will die. But the money he earned was just not enough. So the angel asked the poor man to walk on the path which the greedy man walked on last time. So the poor man walked on it and saw that he was walking on money. He really want to get it but he didnt, for he know that the angel just asked him to walk on it. Until he rich the end and saw the cliff with the angel there. The angel congratulate the poor man, and told him to get as much as money as he need. The poor man knew that he can get as much as he want but he only get much enough for his daughter. So he went to the hospital and used the money and a small amount was left. In the next day, he decided to raise a store and in years it grew until the man became rich and bough a house for his family. The greedy man was now suffering bankruptcy so he decided to sell his mansion and the subdivision. So he looked for a buyer and met the poor man who is now rich who once has a debt to the greedy man, in which he get all his riches in pay for it. So the once poor man bought it and gave some of the houses in it to his neighbours when he is still living on the squatters area who recently was outcast by the owner and who has nowhere to live. and the angel told him that the greedy man and his family has nowhere to go. So he gave another part of the subdivision to the greedy man. Then the angel congratulated the once poor man for his success and promised that he will have his life successful once he continue his kind hearted attitude. The lesson of this story is looking to what you step on. You dont know that maybe the one you step on, is the one who can help you on your life. The money resembles the people who the greedy man trampled which can help him if he only knew. The story also teaches us to look back to our past and help others who once we were. For we have a Tagalog saying. Ang hindi lumingon sa pinanggalingan ay di makakarating sa paroroonan which says One who dont look back to his origin, cannot reach his destination. So people be the poor man and let this story always be on your mind.

The Authors Story

One day a young author wrote an article on a piece of paper he found on the floor, he wrote with his feelings, with his heart speaking. He wrote something about his life and all his experiences because none of his articles were published even if he did anything he can do just to do this. After he finished this article, he read it and said that it was a trash and an unworthy work, so he crumpled it. On the next day a manager of a publishing company asked him if he have an article for a book the manager will publish. He said yes, and showed one article on his journal, but the manager said no. The author felt sad but he showed another article which is written on the other page of the journal. Again the manager said no. The author felt sadder but he saw the crumpled paper on the floor, but he said to himself that the manager probably cannot approve it because its a bad work, so he told the manager that he had another article on the next page. But still the manager said no. Then when the author will show another article, the manager stopped him. Then tears went to the authors eyes then the manager left and went to the door. Then he get the piece of article that he made on the other day which he said was a trash. Then with his eyes closed he accidentally threw it to the door and it landed on the managers shoes. The author saw what happened and apologized. The manager get the crumpled paper and read the article on it, the manager was surprised for the article was perfect, then the manager asked the author if that article is his. But the author thought that the manager will just underestimate his work, so that, he said no to the manager. Then the manager asked that if it is not his work then who owns it. Then he asked the author if he can have it. The author said yes for he dont know what the manager will do. When the manager left, the author cried and stayed on bed for days. After a month, he went to a bookstore to buy one of his favourite novels, then he saw a book which was titled 100 Best Articles, the book was published by the company which the manager works for, he read the first article and saw the title which he noticed that it was familiar. Then he saw that the author was unknown, he read the article and noticed that it was the one he wrote a month ago which he thought was a trash, so he went to the company and told the manager that it was his. The manager said that when he found that on the authors house he said that he can have it, and when he asked the author if that was his, he said no. So the author did nothing and went home so sorry and regret. The lesson of the story was never trash your own work for you will never know if that is the one that others will like or which will other think as perfect. And also work with your heart with the help of your mind. A GIFT OF GOD Volume 1: Issue 1 Published : ___________________ Published by: Andre O. Magpantay
