Pages in Chemistry3 926 - 938 929 - 935

Acid-catalyzed addition of water to alkenes (Markovnikov addition) 975 - 977 Addition of 1) borane 2) hydrogen peroxide and sodiumhydroxyde to alkenes (Antimarkovnikov addition)

977 - 981

5) 6) 7)

Addition of aluminumhydride or borohydride reagents to carbonyl compounds 1054 - 1056 Addition of Gringard or alkyl lithium reagents to carbonyl compounds 1060 - 1063 Substitution reactions with epoxides 982 - 983

Notice: A) Strong proton acids will transfer a proton to alcohols and turn the alcohol into an alkyloxonium ion (or simplyOxonium ion), commonly in an equilibrium process. B) Strong bases will remove a proton from alcohols and turn the alcohol into an alkoxide ion (alkoholate), sometimes in an equilibrium process depending on the strength of the base.
