Bain-Conkin Writing and Rhetoric- 17 28 August 2013 Should Writing and Rhetoric be in NDs Curriculum? After an exciting Freshmen Orientation Weekend, I now dread the oncoming tsunami of schoolwork coming towards me. I know college will require a vast amount of work, but I have come to an understanding that all this work will eventually better myself for the real world. One class that I think will prepare myself well for the real world is Writing and Rhetoric. Writing forces one to string together words and form a coherent sentence with an end goal of voicing their opinion. Easier said then done. The best of this art do not put the most in their essays; rather they put the exact amount of information in their essays while stringing their ideas together flawlessly. Mastering writing helps people blossom into adept communicators. This vital asset is not only a deal breaker for firms and businesses but for daily human to human interaction, too, which makes Writing and Rhetoric an essential part of Notre Dames curriculum.
