ICM Band Problem

hi & welcome e/ man !

xyplunk - 25th October 2012 (02:24 GMT)

ERICSSON: If ICM is high (2-5), try to see if the affected freq are on BCCH TRX or TCH TRX. Also, check for drop reasons. Then, compare with the ICM readings. It would tell if the ICM is on BCCH as it would show on the reasons as Bad Quality Downlink. If it is on a TCH, it would show as Bad Quality Uplink. Change the affected frequency. record FAS to find out what clean frequencies you could use.. :)

yes, it only shows how much noise (=interference) is received on the specific frequency of the TRX. regards pix

Dear, I wanna know the ICM Band details 1 to 5. Is it only escalate interference? plz give me data

New Man - 15th December 2010 (11:42 GMT)

hey guys i faced this problem before. and i plotted the problomatic cells on mapinfo with different color than the else. so this will show us the interference sourece. and i'm sure it's external source coz internal can't cause this high rate of ICM band. Regards

WE ARE FACING HIGH ICM BAND PROBLEM AT INTER BSC LOCATION ALSO ON BOTH SITES TRIBAND ANTENNA'S ARE INSTALLED AND ARE SITES ARE NEWLY ON-AIR UMTS SITES .

Dear all, I wanna know the ICM Band details 1 to 5. Is it only escalate interference?

dear sir, please explain ICM band value concept in Ericsson BTS and how to reduce ICM band value in ericssion BTS.

Band 5 Interference is too high. If your LIMIT4 is the default value then it corresponds to an interference level of better than -88dB. Best way is to check the nearby sites for interference too. [Probably it is external interference due to Jammers or Military transmitters]. See if you can pinpoint a possible location using Interference in the area. But Spectrum Analyzer is the best solution. Coupled with a directional antenna, you can dig out the source of interference. [Do remember to hunt for interference in the hours when ICM band 5 is visible in stats]

Does anyone have any installation procedures or documentation on RX-AIT frame installations?] what is the exact meaning of ICM Band?

Purusharth - 23rd December 2010 (12:07 GMT)

Is that Indranil Hui Sir?

In addition to this the TS are placed in various ICM bands on basis of data for quality collected in the last 5 calls (may vary as per vendors but this is a standard) on that TS. If there is any call drop observed in the last 5 calls history due to quality issues the TS is placed in one poorer ICM band. Check the interference levels (DL & UL) and TA. If there is a rise in poor DL/UL quality post swap then there is a chance that the new equipment is radiating more power (usually old equipment's power reduces-e.g. it shows 43dBm but actually its less due to old equipment or antenna fault).

The same results in increase of interference regions as duew to increase of power the area of overlap reions increase and thus more calls face interference in comparison to last scenario so eventually the TS record pooroer quality bins in last 5 calls and thus more number of TS are mapped to poorer ICM bands.

Is this a regular site and not a Fiber DAS site? Did you check the TMAs?

Maxcell - 6th May 2010 (14:02 GMT)

Laxmikant, ICM is "Idle Channel Measurement". It measures uplink interference while TCH or SDCCH is idle. There are 5 ICM band due to the interference level. The worst one is the 5th one, the best one is the first.

What do u mean by ICM band

Pix - 29th December 2008 (11:42 GMT)

Hi Indranil, This is rather critical... Nobody can help you out from the vendor's side ? They should be responsible for this degradation... can't they provide any kind of support ? what is the new brand of equipment ?

Indranil - 25th December 2008 (15:09 GMT)

Hi Pix, After swap activity (several sites)in new BSC it is being observed that all the sites having high ICM band & tch drop coun ts increasing rather than previous network. frequency planning are same which BCCH/BSIC/hopping frequencies were used in previous network. hardware & feeder/jumper has been checked thoroughly for every site, no fault found. can u suggest me what should be the probable causes & way for rectification. ur reply ll be highly appreciated. BR// Indranil,
