The Anthony Walker Memorial Lecture will be held at Bradford City Hall, BD1 1HY on Friday 18th October 2013 (5pm - 8pm).
Anthony was murdered in a racially motivated attack in Liverpool on 30 July 2005. The lecture is one of a range of activities that keep Anthony’s memory alive and continue the fight against racist violence. It is held every year during Black History Month
This year, the Lecture will be in Bradford. The NUT Yorkshire Midland Region has a strong reputation in campaigning against racism and celebrating diversity. T
The theme for the seventh memorial lecture is ‘the power of education to build a fairer future’.
Bibi Laher OBE will be the guest speaker this year. Bibi is head teacher at Spring Grove Junior, Infant and Nursery school, began her life in a South African township during apartheid and was awarded an OBE for her services to education in 2011.
The event is hosted in conjunction with the Walker family and the Anthony Walker Foundation.
